I was hoping this would somewhat reference their Invisible Stars album opener Tiger in a Burning Tree, & it definitely sounds like there's something to the bridge alluding to it. That album is criminally underrated, I wish they'd play off it live
First time ever not listening to a Turnover album on release day, I kinda wish I was sad about it but based on the singles there's no way it'll be worth my time Singles Everclear Harbour Valencia Fletcher Millington Val Astaire Innerlove. Samia Graduating Life Pale Lungs Dear Youth Albums Sharptooth EP Dayseeker Fleshwater Magnolia Park Cherie Amour Phoenix Born Without Bones The Menzingers - OTIP demos Maren Morris - Humble Quest: In Rare Form (7 songs reimagined accompanied with short film)
If you slept on Youth Fountain - Keepsakes & Reminders, this is a good time to wake up. The two new tracks are very good, but I feel like more should have been done to make this a "Deluxe Edition." At least a few acoustic renditions or something. That being said, this was my AOTY 2021, so I'm gonna be spinning it a bunch anyway. Will also check out Magnolia Park (chatted with the lead singer in December and he was chill af), and Dayseeker people keep saying is good so I'll give that a listen too.
Did not know about that Spice Girls 25th anniversary release. My Friday just got better Phoenix - Alpha Zulu Turnover - Myself In The Way Singles: Samia, Sweet Cobra, Softcult, Action/Adventure, Civic, NOFX, Anti-Flag, White Lung, Avril Lavigne, Hot Flash Heat Wave
the special edition of Sigrid's latest album 'How To Let Go' is out today, 27 tracks!! Sigrid - How To Let Go (Special Edition) (lnk.to)
I'll second @robhoelscher with Ef, amazing Swedish post rock band coming back after a few years of radio silence. FFO: Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, Sigur Rós etc. (but also more closely Immanu El, Cult of Luna (but much lighter), Jeniferever, all the Swedish awesome sounding bands hahh)
In regards to genre tags: That is really at the discretion of the person posting their list/recommendations. It can be very time consuming and exhausting. I do it with mine but I don’t expect anyone else to do it. If anything, it’s a fun way to discover new music.
Huuuuuge Ultraman fan, so of course I'm going to listen to Vovoid's EP. Also, I've never listened to Vovoid before, so... EDIT: Three minutes later, and....it's done? Meh.
I've also already managed to listen to that another batch of Neil Young covers by Jeff Rosenstock and Laura Stevenson, Sigrid's expanded special edition of "How To Let Go", OTIP demos by The Menzingers. "We Salute You, You & You!" by Ef was the biggest release fore me for sure, had anticipated it a lot! I'm left with Turnover and Fleshwater for later, and now also Overhead, the Albatross EP thanks to this thread (I thought about them recently by the way)
The new Daniel Avery album is great. I'll stop short of genre tagging this thing but it's spacey and thick, kinda gothic, a bit too attention grabbing to be called ambient but a lot of ambient feels.
