The last song on the new Metallica album is so awesome. If it wasn't for them, I would probably never picked up a guitar, or drum sticks, so I'm always excited for something new from them.

I feel like Bruno is really strong at the front and falls off about halfway through.

  17. On my first listen of an album, I almost always prefer the first half to the second.

But if what you say is true, that's particularly sad for a NINE track album.

Protest has been one of my top 5 bands for about 10 years now (yeesh that's a long time) and I'm also struggling to get into the new stuff. When they were coming out once a month on the subscription I found myself listening to them when they dropped and putting them aside. The documentary they released alongside it was fantastic though. Going to do my best to let this grow on me.

Also, the Electric Guest and Sylvan Esso singles are great.

Be kind; everyone is on their own journey.

New Metallica is SOOOOO good. Brings me back to Reload a bit, which has come of my favorite tracks like Fixxxer, and Where the Wild Things Are. 'Now That We're All Dead' is right in that vein and they finally got back to REAL song writing with meaning, as opposed to 'Let's just see how fast we can play and how angry James can sound.' There's actual singing! Gives me hope for the future of Metallica, instead of thinking their only capabilities are behind them...very pleasantly surprised with this album, and only about 5 tracks in.

DNCE and Bruno are good pop records, it'll be fun to spin those this winter.

Metallica was OK, but I was admittedly distracted by work so I didn't listen too intently. Hope to revisit it this afternoon with a closer ear.
