The Dear Hunter's new record is awesome. Already made my way through a few times. There's an awesome band called Girl Scout that put out their first LP, Brink, today. Their EP from 2024, Headache, is still heavily in my rotation. Reminds me of The Beths, Snail Mail, Feeble Little Horse.
I saw this album cover and immediately thought of this band Nonpoint, from a CD I owned 25 years ago. Sure enough, they seem to be using the same font for their logo.
Seeing them tonight so this will be good to check on the drive up. They are so much fun live and Much Love is (maybe) their best.
Absolutely! Big All Get Out fan. Their new album is really great. Still have a soft spot for The Season and their older tunes though. Anthony Green is playing and I'm unsure if it'll be his solo music, Saosin, Circa, but I'm excited to see that set too.

Echoing the love for Footballhead in here. They weren't on my radar before, but they are now. Doesn't remind me of Finch so much as TRUSTcompany with a way better vocalist. Also super proud of the hometown boys in Poison the Well returning with such a beautiful record. I'm glad they're finally getting their flowers.
Surprise new album from experimental/post-metal legends Neurosis with Aaron Turner (ISIS, Old Man Gloom, Sumac) on vocals and produced by Scott Evans of Kowloon Walled City (who also provides production/mixing support to Thrice):
Cool to see Pipe Bomb on this list. Crazy good no-frills hardcore. Only 24 minutes, worth the time for anyone wanting some heavy jams!
TRUSTcompany is a good pull. I finally figured out the riff off track 2 is so much like Hoobastank’s “Crawling in the Dark”
That 90s font and style seems to be all the rage these days. Reminds me personally of Oasis and Filter. The band Bleed is ripping that style but it plays.
really enjoying sweet avenue thanks. The search on Spotify also bought me back to jets to Brazil which is a band I forgot about that I enjoyed. So double thanks lol
Ah, good call on that riff! I'm on my second listen now and the first half of this record is taking me back to my college days with the Hooba/Audiovent/TC vibes. Really fun band.
Footballhead (heavy 2002 radio hard rock vibes. Any of these songs could have been on a Tony Hawk/Burnout Soundtrack. I'll echo the TRUSTcompany and Hoobastank comparisons. There's a bit of pop-punk in there too and at least one song was giving me S.C.I.E.N.C.E/Make Yourself era Incubus vibes. I'll buy a cd copy and save it to my OG Xbox. Poison the Well The Dear Hunter and now I have to check out that Neurosis album. Thanks for the rec @Elder Lightning!
Checking in late and seeing a band I'd never heard of (Footballhead) being referenced to SOTY, Incubus, Hoobastank and even freaking Trustcompany is an insane melting pot of bands i love. Excited to check it out! Edit: ok yep track 2 is straight Crawling In The Dark. What a cool surprise! (also makes me want to go back and listen to both Hooba and TrustCo debuts those are gold)
Holy shit, what a day for legacy acts to come back roaring like they never left. Poison the Well (Peace In Place) -- The metalcore GOAT is here with a barnburner. Certainly doesn't sound like they've been gone 17 years. Neurosis (An Undying Love...) -- The seminal sludge gods are back with the shitty guy out and the incredible Aaron Turner from Isis in. The Dear Hunter (Sunya) -- One of the best songwriters in prog. This thing is catchy and playful. FOOTBALLHEAD (Weight of The Truth) -- pop-punk, emo-y grunge. I feel like they've been getting better and better with each release. This one is really good. GUTVOID (Liminal Shrines) -- Death/Doom prog. I really like Blood Incantation, but they wish they could write songs as good as some on this record. It is really, really good if you like this type of music. Gaerea (Loss) -- This band used to play black metal, but this album is pretty great metalcore with a small black metal influence. I don't generally listen to singles before an album comes out, so pressing play was a pretty big surprise. Also found this album that come out on the 6th: Miserere Luminis (Sidera) -- Post-black metal with a real sense of catharsis. The piano and strings compliment the atmosphere these guys build so wonderfully. I've been jamming this album for most of the week.
