another big one this week: 100 Demons ABR Converge Death Cab Guilt Trip Midrift Modest Mouse Seahaven Vince Staples Widowspeak
Seahaven (Seahaven) -- Laid-back, pop-punky, emo. Summer-y and groovy instruments are paired with melancholy vocals. It's an interesting dichotomy that really works for me. Together to the Stars (Iridescence) -- Atmospheric black metal that has a twinge of screamo (skramz) in it. It isn't always sad; some songs actually sound uplifting. Love this shit. Converge (Hum of Hurt) -- This album definitely isn't just tracks that were cut from their last one. It's incredible. Vansire (Taking Solace) -- Truly wonderful shimmery dream-pop. This is what you throw on when you're out for a drive in the summer with the windows down. Xenosis (Hermetic Transmutation) -- REALLY well done tech-death with some progressive leanings. SLIFT (Fantasia) -- Stoner/Doom. They really cut down the songs to their essence. Some great atmosphere, grooves, and riffs. August Burns Red (Season of Surrender) -- I don't know why, but I find the tree on the album art really unsettling.
100 Demons - Embrace the Black Light No fat all fire riffs kinda cringey lyrics sometimes overal great
Is the ABR tree supposed to have a symbol for them in it? I’m trying to figure it out. I’m not super familiar with ABR and whether they even have a symbol that’s just the only reason I can think of
See, to me it just looks like some labia. But the tree is also dead… Is ABR wishing death upon all vulvas? Terrible. /s Also, why is the tree so spherical/symmetrical!?
This is why I checked this thread every single week. There’s no way that I would’ve listened to that Seahaven album without reading this and it’s amazing
