I’m kinda impressed with how much the new Sublime sounds like the old Sublime. Not saying the songs are as good, but the vibe is there and it’s not super corny like the Rome stuff.

Olivia Rodrigo is going to consume my weekend

For fans of pop punk, a DFW area band called Brave Days released a new EP and it's great as well

Brenn! (RIYL Noah Kahan) and Meltt (RIYL Moon Taxi) are the two on my radar besides Olivia

It feels a little forced to me on some songs. Would have enjoyed at least a few longer jam songs thrown in.

I agree. I've listened to the album twice now. I liked it enough to keep it in my library, but didn't love it. Some of the songs have nice hooks. Some of it feels like filler made from a Sublime template. It's an ok album, but nothing great. Jakob does an admirable job, but I don't think the song-writing chops come close to his father's.

Agreed, he doesn’t have the songwriting chops his dad has. It’s not as good as I had hoped, but better than expected. I think the new album from Dirty Heads is the better album and summer album feel.

Didn't realise Mike Campbell had something new out. His autobiography from 2025 is brilliant.
