Trade Wind's LP came out today. That's what I was forgetting. Cool side project band. I dig what they do.
Yeah my co-worker loves them. He's a diehard 311 fan. I actually enjoy Dirty Heads though. 311 not so much.
I've seen nothing but a positive reception towards them. They're not at the point to be headlining amphitheaters yet but they're one or two more hits away. It's cool how they appeal to a lot of different people too. I think 311 gave up on trying to gain new fans years ago and are just playing for their fans. I think the only 2 hits you're definitely going to see are Down and Amber. They even stopped playing All Mixed Up on a few dates.
The new GC album is pretty good. I was wondering what it would sound like since the past few years they have seemed to be more into DJing and TMZ than their own music but they definitely impressed me with this new record. First half is much better than the second half but solid overall.
I've literally never liked more than a song or two by GC, but I may give this album a listen because there just haven't been many good pop punk releases this year (I'm loving California though). The Relient k album is everything to me right now.
I've never liked any of Dirty Heads' radio songs, but this album is better than I was expecting. Probably won't come back to it often, but it's pretty catchy.
The whole good Charlotte album is sooo good. I'm putting up in the top3 of theirs even after 2 listens War at the end is such a good song. Has even Amity Afflcition vibes to it
I've never considered myself a Good Charlotte fan, but wow, I have been throughly enjoying that album today. Also, I know a lot people roll their eyes at the mention of Pitchfork but they've started publishing a "X Albums Out Today You Should Listen to Now" every Friday. Give me stuff to listen to on slow weeks like this -- 7 Albums Out Today You Should Listen to Now: Clams Casino, Darkstar, Dreezy, More | Pitchfork Lastly, I stumbled across the site Album of The Year - Music Reviews, Ratings, Charts, News a few years ago and I'm throwing it out as a recommendation for those who like to see how albums rate across a whole slew of publications. I know Metacritic exists but I much prefer this site for whatever reason. They keep a "Best Albums" list sorted by highest average critic score, but you can customize it by setting a minimum number of reviews or look at the highest rated albums by publication. I know the content of the review is the most important part, but this is a quick and easy way for me to see if I'm totally sleeping on an album that everyone is loving.
New Lifted Bells EP, "Overreactor" came out today. It's Bob Nanna's (Braid and Hey Mercedes) new band. Really good stuff.
AOTY is p.cool, especially come year-end list time. They're my go-to for seeing what came out on a weekly basis.
