Ryan from Holy Fawn put out a solo record under the name Sownbones today. Past releases under this name have been mostly instrumental and scratch a very Sigur Ros or late Moving Mountains itch. Lots of acoustic guitar, bells, stuff like that. This will probably be similar New singles from Loathe, A Wilhelm Scream, and Vein.fm are a hell of a way to start the year too
The new Static Dress single is great! Like to add that the new Weeknd album is amazing. The Jim Carrey interludes are just gold!

Enjoyed the very early releases from Twin Atlantic, but their poppier evolution didn't work for me as well as Biffy Clyro's has. But maybe I should still check it out and be open to a surprise.
Was ready to listen to this album this morning and apparently it got pushed to next week? Edit: Had to check to make sure I wasn't crazy: here they say January 7th and a month later they say January 14th
Late to the party, but on my radar to check out for this week is: Asleep At The Helm: Keepsake AVIIRA: Avalanche Infected Rain: Ecdysis Love Like Gravity: Break The Silence Spector: Now Or Whenever Thy Witness: Of Founders And Fragments Twin Atlantic: Transparency
Thank you, glad you like it. If Apple Music had a free basic plan like Spotify does then I'd certainly consider it.
Well, it's good, but probably only after you listen to it a few times thinking what the fuck is this, and then eventually if you stop comparing it to Free or Vivarium, it's quite good! My only problem on the first listen was the repetitive drumbeats, but they had a great drummer up until this very release, maybe that's actually on purpose. Still a fun listen!
I did give it a listen in the car on the weekend and had a similar reaction to that. I'm cool with a mellow opener or even some ambient, electro-tinged songs, but I kept waiting for the tempo to pick up, but instead the first few songs felt really similar.
