-Turnstile -Screaming Females -Wake (I'm actually stoked you mentioned that one, @Melody Bot. YOU GO ROBOT! Seriously though, anyone remotely into extreme metal should check this one out. Very strong day in indie folk: S Carey Darlingside Lo Moon Vance Joy Thumpers (EP) John Lucas (EP) Until The Ribbon Breaks
Reggie is my big one today. Been looking forward to this and James did not disappoint. Got S. Carey recommended to me so I'll check that out. Heard good things about Turnstile and Young Statues as well so I'll go for those.
Can anyone give me an RIYL on S. Carey? I'll be jamming these today: Screaming Females Turnstile The Playbook (new pop punk band that actually seems worth my time) We Were Sharks Vance Joy Milestones (not expecting much but I'll give it a shot) Reggie and the Full Effect Barren Womb Insecure Men Household Code Orange Single Fall Out Boy Demos +a bunch of recs I pull from this thread per usual This is a great release day!
I'm not crying. You're not crying, are you? --- Their voices are beautiful together. Pedro//Manchester//Julien Baker tour or Bazan//Bad Books//Julien Baker tour would be amazing and/or life changing. Edit: I got the chance to see Julien, Manchester, and Bazan separately last year. I was insanely fortunate to see Manchester acoustic this year already, and have tickets to see Julien with Big Thief and Courtney Barnett in July, plus the high likelihood she's at Eaux Claires IV. Tickets for Pedro in August. Definitely getting ample opportunities to see them, but seeing them possibly collaborate together would be a dream.
there's a new staves ep on spotify with a bunch of live recordings, including their covers of chicago (with a little eau claire nod) and jolene
From Andy in a Stereogum article: "We met in person for the first time about 30 minutes before we started sketching out our re-creation. It didn’t take me but about five minutes to realize just how deeply talented and layered Julien is. I’ve called her ‘the truth’ ever since our first sessions and look forward to working with her as much as we can in the future."
