New Youth Lagoon is really good so far.

 

Excellent album.

For anyone not familiar, it's punk-influenced folk but not folk-punk. Features guest vocals from the legendary Steve Ignorant (Crass) and John Doe (X).

Dead Horse One/Threaded split ep (Alternative rock is an easy label but what else can I say?)

Singles: Errth "Streets don't sing" (don't let the spelling make you think it's a metal band. Melodic stuff)
Guernica "Rain on my parade" (Recorded in 1988. That band name should give you some deja oh never mind)
Museum of Light (Gently heavy)

After a few years of singles and EPs, Isabel Pless finally released her debut album and it’s amazing I think

Super hooky, mostly quiet, and funny/sad lyrics. Production is incredible too.
