If you have to ask, you can't afford it

Not a genre I'm big into (Trap Metal) but the Dropout King's album is a big one. Adam Ramey who does the cleans/screams committed suicide in May just a few weeks after finishing up the vocals for the album. I've always been a fan of theirs and the album goes hard enough as it is but even more-so being his last one ever

Editing to add my favorite track from them for anyone who is mildly interested in the genre

Not sure where I started following him from. Maybe from a rec on here. For some reason I thought he had a feature on another artist but not sure.

    • Asunojokei (Think of You) -- Bright, happy-sounding, Japanese post-black metal. Think Deafheaven but not depressing and substitute post-rock for the shoegaze. Love these dudes.
    • Blackbraid (Blackbraid III) -- Native American-themed black metal. Dude is great at crafting songs with beautiful indigenous instrumentation interwoven with traditional black metal.
    • Dreamwake (The Lost Years) -- Super catchy metalcore with some sax & 80's synths. So fun! Vocalists kind of sound like old The Amity Affliction.
    • Babymetal (Metal Forth) -- This is a weird one. There are so many guest artists, but it often feels like it's Babymetal who are being featured, not the other way around. Some pretty good songs, but a disparate and disjointed album.
    • Crypt Sermon (Saturnian Appendices) -- Doom with some trad heavy metal and a dash of thrash influence.
    • Sinsaenum (In Devastation) -- Joey Jordison may be gone, but these guys are still pretty good and fun. Blackened death metal with just a sprinkle of nu-metal influence.
    • Thousand Below (Buried in Jade) -- Catchy post-hardcore where I can feel the emotion really come through.
    • Jonas Brothers (Greetings From Your Hometown) -- I liked their last one. I'm hoping this is catchy and fun.
    • Good Charlotte (Motel Du Cap) -- Man, it's been a minute for these dudes.
    • Ashley Monroe (Tennessee Lightning) -- Country. I hate these newer pop albums with no real throughline and large track counts. I haven't listened to this completely yet, but I doubt it needed to be 17 tracks.

Okay I fuck with this. Vocals don’t do much for me so far but in for the synth, sax and heavy grooves.

I was just about to mention Blackbraid! I don't listen to a ton of black metal but I got into his work with the first album and I've been hooked ever since. The new one doesn't miss and might even be the best of the 3 so far.
