It does a decent job getting at it for me. A lot of what I love about Converge is their creativity and the imagery that the band evokes. Jake's a big part of that, and he brings it pretty well on this new release.

Random updates to my earlier post:
-Ecstatic Vision is awesome. If you're into prog or psychedelic rock at all, I'd recommend giving it a listen.
-Cliterati and Connoisseur records are both good but a bit forgettable upon first listen.

It's basically a Patrick Carney record with her singing the songs. Very disappointed.

That was my fear. She's a good songwriter, but nothing has really hit for me in a while from her.

I could see that, but it just makes me want new Converge even more, haha.

I didn't realize it was being released digitally today, until I saw @flask 's post in the album thread.

Well she hasn't released a solo album in 13 years because of a side project and label issues. I think her stuff is worth a listen. I always liked her voice. New album isn't as poppy as her early stuff, but definitely sounds like Michelle branch now that she's older.

I do wish there was a bit more pop to it, but i like it for what it is.

Glad other people seem to be enjoying it, but I cut out after about track 10 and can't see myself going back to it. Too many other things I'd rather listen to.

    My thoughts..

    Cold War Kids ..meh.

The Maine.. sounded great upon first listen.

Michelle Branch..boring as fuck. What happened to the hooks? Oh, Pat Carney happened.

My own post got me thinking. Man I absolutely loved the Black Keys. But literally everything these guys have done, probably since El Camino has been poop.
