This article has been imported from chorus.fm for discussion. All of the forum rules still apply. The album release day right before Record Store Day is always a tough one to navigate — looking over the new releases and trying to figure out what you’re going to pick up over the weekend. All of this week’s releases can be found on our release date calendar, or below. I haven’t checked out anything that’s coming out today yet, is there anything I should definitely make sure to add to my list? I know Craig Manning highly recommends that Sturgill Simpson album. Sturgill Simpson is without a doubt the release of the week, but I also recommend that Sam Beam/Jesca Hoop album. Best album Beam's been a part of in nine years, imo.
New Santana is intriguing, especially since it features most of the Woodstock bank with him. Blaqk Audio, Royce and Sturgill will get some spins too.
This. & yeah, like many are saying it's a slower week but there are so many to go back to from the last few weeks that I'm alright with that.
After scouring the interwebs it seems like this my list for the week: You'll Pay for This -- Bear Hands In the Yellow Leaf -- Brass Bed Year of the Rabbit -- Eskimeaux The Diary -- J Dilla When It's All Over -- RAIGN Layers -- Royce da 5'9" A Sailor's Guide to Earth -- Sturgill Simpson Hold/Still -- Suuns
Don't forget about the debut album from Greater Pyrenees as well. Pretty great Ryan Adams-esque album from one of the dudes in Colour Revolt. (Released by Jesse Lacey / Brand New's Procrastinate! Music Traitors label, so there's that )
Angels & Airwaves-"Chasing Shadows-EP" (released earlier but I believe new to Apple Music today) Bear Hands-"You'll Pay for This" Blaqk Audio-"Material" And also some singles: Rob Zombie-"In the Age of the Consecrated Vampire We All Get High" Young the Giant-"Amerika" A little bit of a slower week for me, but I'll take advantage of that to catch up on some stuff from the past couple of weeks that I've been wanting to check out!
Wow, I must admit I didn't know this band before. Sounds like Red City Radio covering a Gaslight Anthem song. Need to check out more from them.
I was going to jump in here to suggest that people check-out this release. A really solid slab of melodic punk rock. There's a few bands playing this style now, in a way that feels fresh and new (Western Settings, Success, and Civil War Rust), and this EP is really great. Well worth a spin if that's what you're into...
You should check out the new Kevin Morby album out that came out today, idk if you are familiar with him, but this is his best album yet and I think its something you would enjoy
