I've requested the same thing before in these threads. It would be great to have. If there's no RIYL in someone's post, I usually don't take the time to check it out because... I have nothing about the 10 listed musicians or bands they posted - not even a genre. I'll usually go through and if a name of a band catches my eye, just put them in Spotify and look at the "Fans also like..." to get a sense of what they sound like. Other than that, I miss the point of posting albums you're excited for without posting what makes you excited about it, and/or how do they sound. As far as for me, not too much today. Remember Sports (Cayetana, Diet Cig, Great Grandpa) put out three songs from their upcoming album that I'm in love with. Other than that, just some mediocre singles that didn't hit hard for me from others on my RR.
Benny Sings - Music (April 9, 2021) • forum.chorus.fm Soulful, sunny day stuff. Features from Cautious Clay, Tom Misch, Mac DeMarco, and more. A breeze of a listen!
Good Terms is so good. They remind me of Four Year Strong with their pop-punk vocals combined with heavy riffs. Super fun record!
One of the times I tried to do a RIYL, someone tried to correct me on it, as if it weren't subjective to begin with. I sort of just decided not to bother after that.
Makes sense to me plus if you see something you aren't familiar with, take a risk. You might find a new favorite artist
I can totally understand that, and it's a valid point. Apologies if my post came off rude in any way. Whoever it was should have simply been thankful you included it instead of correcting you, but the genre-game is a never ending one.
Can always count on your recs for some pop-punk (or pop-punk adjacent) goodness. Digging all of these! High Wire is particularly hitting the "it's finally starting to warm-up pop-punk" spot.
Do you have the credits for Parker Millsap? Trying to figure out who played drums, they did incredible work
I’m game. Anything that makes it easier for someone to make the connection to their next great music discovery is worth it to me. I’ll start incorporating RIYL and/or genre labels to my lists.
its also hard to give a good RIYL for something you haven’t yet heard since it came out that day haha
