The Kenny Mason record has my attention half way through. Hip hop with influence from... my bloody valentine? Going to spend time with it this weekend. I listened to a few songs on the Holding Absence album and it's really not my thing - I find it cloying - but I imagine if you like that sound you'll love it. I'm sure I used to like some of Charlie Simpson's solo stuff but these new singles are so fucking beige. Could have guessed most of the chorus melody two lines into the first verse on the new one.
RIYL new stuff: Chain Gang Grave The Armed Cannibal Corpse Spectral Wound Bewitcher Oh The Humanity! Doused Sorcerer Colonial Wound - A lot of Singles: Quicksand, A Pregnant Light, Crime In Stereo (first new song in years), Desaster, Fear Factory, Ghastly, Vreid, An Autumn For Crippled Children, Origami Angel, Pestilence, Solstice, Vukovi, Downhaul, Amends (ft. Laura Jane Grace), Chubby and the Gang, The Ember The Ash, Stormruler
Tried listening to: The Armed - this wasn't for me...at all. Holding Absence - skipped the intro and got through tracks 2 and 3, it's alright but I was bored listening to it. Hail the Sun - I've enjoyed what I've heard of this record thus far. Stopped listening but only bc I wanted to sample a few other records still and have only limited time. RIYL: Circa Survive, Pierce the Veil etc Escape the Fate - its funny this is being released the night Ronnie Radke is having his first big live concert / immersive experience he claims will be something never really done before. Solid first few tracks. Great for a workout. August Burns Red - they've always been too screamy for my taste but they do it so well. Amy Shark - her new track "Amy Shark" from her upcoming release is gorgeous.
The Polyphonic Spree surprised me today with an album of covers: Afflatus | The Polyphonic Spree (bandcamp.com)
One of the better release days so far this year While She Sleeps-Great album with great lyrics AJ Tracey Holding Absence-Includes a great feature by lead singer Lucas' sister which is worth checking out The Offspring Will likely check out Escape the Fate and Hail the Sun as well
