Disney: We've gotten a lot of backlash on how Genie isn't blue, how fast can you change that?

FX team: Give us about 2 months and then you can put out a trailer with the fix.

 

Really like the visuals in general there

Jafar’s voice sounds awful, like a young teenager or something.

I thought the genie was gonna be all CG but just have Will Smith’s voice, not his actual face. Looks terrible.

 

yeah, i was not expecting them to actually use will smith's face, not sure how i feel about that.

 

This looks really really really bad

 

Yeah I dont like much of that. Hopefully theyll suprise me and they could be really good, but I really just am not feeling the casting of Jafar, Aladdin, and even to a lesser extent Jasmine. It feels to CG and polished and not like a lived-in world to me.

And yeah I dig the casting of Smith but geez does he look so awkward. Its the uncanny valley thing but in body form. As much as I want most of the movie with practical effects, they really wouldve been better served doing motion capture rather than having his head/face in camera and the body not. They arent proportional or dont move together well. Idk. It just looks weird.

 

Other than Jafar and the genie, I like everything else though.

 

Naomi Scott is going to be the perfect Jasmine

The problem is quite obviously not that Genie has Will Smith's face, that's kind of a ridiculous strawman argument, it's that it looks awful

 

This is going to be real bad. Jafar’s voice made me laugh out loud when I realized that was actually him. And everything about the genie is decades out of place. I can’t believe they actually went with that.

 

This looks like it's going to stink really bad but I'm still going to watch it lol.
