    Monet is actually an AI-powered creation of a Mississippi woman named Telisha Jones, who writes her own lyrics but uses the AI platform Suno to make them into music.

    The deal inked by Jones — a multimillion-dollar agreement signed by ex-Interscope exec Neil Jacobson’s indie music company Hallwood Media — marks the latest advance of AI into every corner of American life. But the buzz surrounding the deal, which some of the major labels ultimately backed away from, highlights the legal limbo that music companies and creators face as they adopt the new tech.

    I haven't read the full article, but does this mean if I think i'm a poet I can just insert my words and select a genre musical mash-up of my choice and I can get signed; with no actual musical talent to perform live?

    I maintain that: A: Any songs made in such a way should be disclosed on all listening platforms, and B: These tools should be for fun, i.e. there should be ZERO money earned from a tool single-handedly creating a song for you by ripping off (no other way to put it) countless undisclosed artists and songs.

    This is going to be interesting in the line between artist and writer. If all this person is doing is writing, then do all writers on songs get to be credited as artists now?

    Yes it should be marked as AI if using those tools. Isn’t the money in touring though? And if the touring is with lip syncing and a performance similar to drag shows. Would there be a large market for that? Maybe it’s my age but I think not sustainable in the long term. I know this artist was signed for a big amount of money but for the team whosigned her where would they make their money? And also whose voices did they use in the system to yield the songs. It’s not just out of thin air.

    I don't think anyone who does this is looking to tour or play a live show. Most people who would give this their attention probably wouldn't care.

    “She” can’t tour or perform because is an AI generated woman. She doesn’t even exists. I guess is like owning the rights of a fictional character? Fucking weird.

    I got a drunk customer who comes into my work and has the damndest things/phrases out of nowhere that stick with me...maybe I should use his lyrics for myself lol
