This show has had best action sequences of any of the shows shot in the Volume. They still all feel a little too static, but it seems like directors are starting to figure out some ways to make it work.
I’m not disagreeing with that but it’s still not good! The choreography is great but the camerawork and blocking is making it hard to feel the action
Oh I’m not saying the fights were good, like I said they overall feel too static. But there were moments like episode 4 where they had some life to them.
Yeah! It’s even worse in the Mandolorian, particularly S3 when they were all shooting at the sea monster on the beach lmao
Overall I thought this show was good, but not great. It had some great moments, but it didn’t fully live up to its potential. I’m bummed we didn’t get more Baylan and Shin in the finale because they are the most interesting part of the show. Going forward, I'm more interested in what they do with the Morris gods the zombie stormtrooper army Thrawn brought over. RIP Ray Stevenson. His performance brought real nuance and depth to the show. This felt a little rushed near the end too. I don't love the impulse these shows have to make the finale just one long battle for 3/4's of the runtime. There seem to be some interesting conflicts and potential character moments that were left on the cutting room floor. For example, it seems like we breezed right past Ezra finding out what Sabine did to find him, basically undoing his sacrifice at the end of Rebels. It would have been really compelling to see him struggle with the joy of being reunited and going home and knowing that his return also means Thrawn’s return. I'll take 5 minutes less of them cutting down stormtroopers for that scene.
I honestly just want like 60 minutes more scattered throughout the season of just people talking to each other. They could be doing something, like training, or whatever. But I want more in depth interactions.
The bottom of the press release for the Mando movie officially announces that Filoni is developing season 2 of Ahsoka
Finally got around to this. I liked it more than I expected to based on some of the initial reviews and not having watched Rebels, but it did take a few episodes to get going.
Not really, but that's not a critique of the show. I just don't have much interest in animated TV series. Maybe when my kid is a little older we'll watch it together, but I'm pretty unlikely to go for an animated thing when I'm watching on my own.
It’s cases like this where I would be okay with them using AI. Like Dune: Part Two did for the blue eye effect and the Springsteen movie is doing for his brown eyes. Looks much more natural that way.
