Solid episode. I do like that this world has a different aesthetic than most SW worlds we see since we are in a completely different galaxy (though I do think they could have pushed things even further there). Eman is probably the most perfectly cast actor in the show so far. It’s been brief, but he seems to be nailing it. Thrawn looks a little goofy, but I can get past it. I’m glad we’re starting to get a little motivation for Baylon and Bangs.
The fact that they got the same actor from Rebels to play Thrawn sells it for me. Sounds exactly like him. Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati not only have the best names, they're my favorite characters in this. The little moments of Baylan imparting his wisdom on Shin are so much more interesting than Ahsoka teaching Sabine imo, likely because we've seen so many characters train to be a Jedi already.
Having Eman wear blue eye contacts/change his eye color in post or whatever they’re doing there is…a choice. I get it that animated Ezra has blue eyes but feel like they could have let that one slide. I found the eyes to be a bit off putting which is a shame since the performance is absolutely spot on.
Great episode. Glad we got to really focus on the villains this week and they continue to impress me with the somewhat quick pacing. Thrawn and Ezra revealed in one episode was not my expectation but I'm very happy with it. Baylon and Shin continue to be an intriguing take on force users, Baylon being probably my favorite character in the show. The visuals of the new night troopers looked amazing too, they're definitely reanimated. Loved the little hermit crab people too. They're cute as hell.
This episode was another banger. Balan May be the most interesting character in any of the SW shows, maybe in the sequel series thus far. Really interesting to see where they’re going with his storyline and what they’ll find on this planet. Feels like there has to be some connection to the existence of the WBW because that would make sense regarding Balan’s monologue about breaking the cycle also, I WANT A HOWLER NOW PLEASE the goofy tongue out of their mouth is so dang cute
Every episode I just get more and more sad that Ray passed away and couldn’t see the reception to this. Such a great performance from him.
I just get solace in the fact that I hope his family and friends are proud and thankful for all of the praise and that he’s, even in his passing, having such a positive impact on such a historic franchise.
Yeah i’m very interested where his character goes cause it kinda feels like Reva’s arc from Obi Wan? Idk seems like he has better intentions than his apprentice.
I don't think they pushed it at all. It just felt like another planet in star wars. Everything looked cool though. Loved the trooper commander's gold mask. That was really cool. All the samurai influences in this show/ever are cool.
I dunno the crab people village looked pretty new to me with their little shell trailers. Everything on the planet seemed to have a more organic design to it. Agreed that it didn't feel totally out of left field, but it did seem like some effort was put into making it different.
I get the feeling that Shin is going to switch sides. Maybe I’m misreading it, but I felt like she was upset that Baylon was going after Ezra. Could be way off though.
Baylan is my favourite part of this show right now, dude is absolutely magnetic on-screen every second. love how he almost feels like a reluctant antagonist instead of actively malicious like every other Sith we've ever seen whole episode was a banger though, still love Mikkelsen's Thrawn and the casting for Ezra seems great. though I really don't get why they committed to Jacen having that ugly green hair but didn't make Ezra's blue lmao
He has black hair in the second half of Rebels. The blue from the first half was likely dyed that way.
Y'all making such a big deal about hair and eye colors. Gotta find something to complain about right?
I'm now most curious about what the Nightsisters are afraid of on Peridia and why they feel the need to escape. What killed all the others if there were more on the planet originally? Possibly the same thing that is calling Baylon to the planet?
thats my thought. Would be interesting to get some greater threat than Thrawn like the Yuuzhan Vong or some ancient entity/group that doesn't identify with the light or dark sides of the force. I'd be interested in seeing a common enemy for our protags/antags to have to eventually team up against for their own survival.
Ya I was thinking that Ezra, Sabine, Baylan, and Shin all get left behind on the planet and have to team up to escape or fight some big threat. Would love to see them face off too, though.
