Shape Shift stunk and nothing at all that LJG has put out as a solo effort has scratched that itch at all. So yeah, deffffinitely need a new album.
Pretty much anything that followed an all-timer like TDB was going to feel like a letdown, but SSWM is definitely a fun album and I'm glad they tried a few new things with it.
I enjoyed SSWM when it came out but I haven't gone back all that much. There are some really good songs on it though. Devouring Mothers and the solo album/EP have held me over pretty well but it does feel like time for new AM!
Crash is phenomenal and one of my fav AM! songs but outside of that I have no recollection of SSWM at all, like it made no impression on me
Love shape shift personally. 1 of those bands I like enough I don't even mind when their sound changes
Honestly from TDB onwards is my favorite material from LJG so I have no idea what y’all are talking about.
If I'm not mistaken Stay Alive was meant to be a full band Against Me! record but thanks to the pandemic it just wasn't possible for them to meet somewhere to record together since they're all scattered around the US. Really hoping someday we get to hear full band versions of those songs.
While this thread is getting some traction, have you all heard Atom's new song/side project called PLOSIVS? SUPER solid single. He said the full length should come early 2022. Album is already done, but they want to release physical copies and new music all at once which is held up by vinyl backlogs.
TDB is was an all timer. But she’s continued to put out great content. The new EP under Laura Jane Grace is so fucking good. Like wow. Very much feel like the new against me! Record will be special.
Really don't get the Shape Shift hate, record rules hard. Even if it's probably the bottom spot for me
Just looked at the track listing and was gonna start listing the best tracks but they're all really good except the last 2 and I guess I could do without Boyfriend but I don't mind it
I actually like it. But it is a giant step back from New Wave, White Crosses, and even TDB (which i thought was pretty rough sounding given how awesome the two albums before it are)
Dead Rats into Rebecca straight rips. You fools are making me interrupt my Full Moon Fever listen to do this and rip Shape Shift
Jammed New Wave for the first time in awhile. I forgot how fun that album is. It was a nice progression for them at the time and the album that really turned me onto them.
