Stoked to see them tonight! Also, I'm actually a big fan of Suicide Bomber. I think it's weird and wonderful, haha.
Tried listening to this when NPR premiered it but I straight-up couldn't deal with the stream quality. Now I've listened to this straight through twice in a row and it's fucking awesome. This is the best record they could have followed TDB with and it's just a fucking blast the whole way though. A little bummed about the lukewarm reaction to this but oh well, more fun for me haha
12:03 is so good. A lot of these songs are so lyrically dense that it takes me a few listens to even get what Laura's saying, but when I actually listen I'm like "fuck what a brilliant lyricist"
Big fan, didn't like it much on first listen, but didn't like TDB much on first listen either so I'm sure it'll grow on me. 333 reminds me of David Johansen's Soul
I think it's somewhat unfortunate that this album came out on the same day as Cymbals Eat Guitars and Touche Amore, and in the same weekend ETID leaked, because all three of those records overshadow this one for me.
If you downloaded a leak, I'm assuming it was ripped from the NPR stream, which was close to unlistenable.
Yeah, the back half of this especially rips. Like, "Delicate, Petite & Other Things I'll Never Be" is an easy favorite for me, but "Haunting, Haunted, Haunts" through "North Truth" is a s t r e t c h
This is definitely one of my top 2 AM albums. I haven't properly worked out if I like this or Former Clarity more yet though.
just picked up the record today and fuck, i back this statement. the latter two aforementioned songs in particular.
For me this is behind Clarity, Trans and New Wave, but definitely ahead of the rest of their albums. Crash has grown on me too.
Really trying to like this album but having trouble. I'm gonna try to spin it again. I'm def a NW fan but it's probably because I've never been a huge straight Punk fan and that's the direction AM has taken.
Can't wait to see them tonight. Not all of the new songs are clicking with me but seeing them live will probably help. Any idea if they have the vinyl with them?
Yeah they've got it, almost bought one in Pittsburgh but then remembered I had my preorder waiting at home for me.
its crazy how much audio quality effects our perception. i listened to the NPR stream and wrote the record off as awful, but now hearing a full quality i love it.
This is growing on me fast, although I think the Provision L-3 song is the worst song they've ever done.
I'm glad she publicly responded. For such a major publication you would hope there would be more truth in the story. Laura's story (her real story) was one of the first to really help me understand what a gender transition is like and how it affects people. I'm glad to know people in the punk scene have someone to look up to and writing "romance novel teaser bullshit" isn't helping the cause. As a straight male I can still look at Laura as inspiring and strong, not as a soap opera character. /mini disjointed rant
