It's a really good record, but most of the songs seem like they wouldn't translate live very well. I would switch out "Jordan's First Choice" for "Those Anarcho Punks" and I'm bummed "Don't Lose Touch" isn't really part of their live shows anymore (just weird how much they ignore SfaFC period), but I mostly love this setlist. Cannot wait for next Sunday.
Man I love that record. I saw them play a 400 cap room two nights in a row before the album came out last year and over the two nights I want to say they basically played the whole record and it was great I haven't seen them since this album came out so I was really hoping for a lot of new jams but there's a good amount in there
Seconding this! I tried, but couldn't track one down yet... I'm sure one will pop-up eventually. I'm hoping Dirty Nil has a new album on the way and/or throws a new track or two into the setlist for this tour.
I saw them open for the Flatliners in Toronto a month or two ago and they must've played at least 3-4 new songs. I'd imagine we get a new album by the end of Feb at the latest.
Yeah I'm going to assume we get a new Nil album early next year If I had to guess their set: No Weaknesses Zombie Eyed Husker Du Friends In The Sky Fuckin Up Young Cinnamon Little Metal Baby Fist or Nicotine And then probably 2 new songs and they usually do a cover
I'm surprised they haven't moved "No Weaknesses" to be a closer yet. I can't wait for the day they move "No Weaknesses" to the closer slot. It'll probably take a new record (because it's the best opener they have ATM, in my opinion), but it'll happen. Haha.
They closed with Metal Fist last time I saw them and it's just kind of a strange closer imo haha I think Weakness, Husker Du or Zombie would be great closers They also covered "School" by Nirvana when I saw them. Surrender would be cool though!
Yeah idk if they're gonna do a cover with only an opening set. I think closing w/ Husker Du or Little Metal Baby First is more likely. Husker Du is the perfect in the penultimate or final slot imo.
The Against Me! set from last night as best I can remember (not in any sort of order other than separated by main set and encore): True Trans Soul Rebel I Was a Teenage Anarchist 333 Haunting, Haunted, Haunts Delicate, Petite, & Other Things I'll Never Be Jordan's First Choice Walking Is Still Honest Those Anarcho Punks Are Mysterious... New Wave Up the Cuts Thrash Unreal Bamboo Bones Transgender Dysphoria Blues Dead Friend T.S.R. Cliche Guevera The Ocean Unconditional Love Androgynous (Replacements) From Her Lips to God's Ears (The Energizer) Miami Black Me Out Two Coffins Pints of Guiness Make You Strong Baby, I'm an Anarchist Sink, Florida, Sink We Laugh at Danger (And Break All the Rules) Definitely did not feel like a 27 song set in the moment. Fastest 90 minutes of my life. RAR: 6 AtEC: 3 SfaFC: 2 NW: 4 WC: 2 TDB: 6 SSwM: 3 Bolded the ones in the correct order. Also, New Wave into Up the Cuts is definitely staying for the whole tour I would assume.
I was super bummed when they started playing "Sink, Florida, Sink" thinking we weren't gonna get that last song (since it's such an obvious set ender) so I was shocked/so happy when it started.
I had a brief flirtation with the idea of skipping this on Saturday to see Jeff Rosenstock down the street from this, because he said he might play Worry in full, but no way can I actually do it. This'll be too fun. I just listened to the Stabitha Christie ep and it's so much fun. It'd be cool to see them do a couple of those live one day.
Indeed, gonna miss Meat Wave as well in addition to Jeff. But the Oktoberfest where Jeff and Meat Wave are playing starts in the afternoon 10 minutes walking from the AM venue so it's gonna be a fantastic day overall.
There's really no winning, even the openers at both shows are great. (Meat Wave & White Lung for Jeff). I'll just go with what I have tickets to. I didn't think about being able to do that. I might have to go a little earlier to check it out if I can.
