Everything about this tour is awesome. Love that it's on a Saturday, love that it's at the Concord, love the openers. It's going to be a real fun time.
I'll have to do Pittsburgh because the night they are in Cleveland I'll be at a show in Columbus. But I'm glad it's a Sunday so I won't have to take off of work for it.
I was thinking about doing Detroit, but I'm starting a full-time job soon and Sundays are difficult, so I might go to Chicago and make a weekend out of it.
never heard of "brooklyn steel", can anybody review? this long islander has missed AM! like the last 5 times they've come around and would like to not make it a 6th.
The phx date is a brand new soon to be open venue. This is the first show Ive seen for it! Should be cool
Brooklyn Steel is the latest venue operated by the Bowery Presents and was meant to be sort of their competitor to Webster Hall. A place to put bands that are two big for Bowery ballroom yet not big enough for T5 as there is an adjustable stage allowing for the capacity to range from 1200-1800. Interestingly enough, The Bowery Presents is now back to booking Webster Hall since AEG is trying to take over all of NYC's concert bookings to compete with Live Nation. I've been there for LCD Soundsystem, The Decemberist and Two Door Cinema Club so got a pretty good feel for it. PRO's: - Floor space is about as big as T5 and there aren't any overhangs you get stuck under so everyone can actually, ya know, SEE the stage - Sound is pretty good, at least from where I was standing. Overall it's a nice alternative to Terminal 5. CON's: - Logistically, a bit of a pain in the ass. I live in the same borough (Brooklyn Heights) and it's still 40-45 min door to door since you have to travel through Manhattan to get there or walk far to the G. From Long Island, no real straight shot as you likely have to come into Penn, take the A-C-E or 1-2-3 to the L and then go 3 stops out into Williamsburg + a 10 min walk. - If you plan on drinking, make sure you get a nice and liquored up BEFORE the headliner. They seem to not staff the bar well so the lines are LONG. - Same story with the coat check. It's a venue that holds 1800 people yet they have a measly one person handle coat check. Overall, a solid place but just allow for extra time when traveling unless you're already in Williamsburg.
thank you! yeah it seems my biggest issue is the travel, from what i can see on google maps there is, like you said, no straight shot to get there via train. we shall see, but i appreciate the informative rundown!
As I said in the news post, I loved them at the Green Day show but really can't wait to see them in these sized venues again where everyone knows every word. I'll be at Cleveland for sure!
Nil are about to take over the world ya'll. Also my bud has been raving about that new Bleached record so I have that downloaded for my flight tomorrow. And of course Against Me rips
I could see them blowing up in a similar way to PUP, another Toronto band, just based on the massive amount of touring they'll have done this year. Also, winning a Juno doesn't hurt. Anyone wanting a leg up on the next big Toronto punk band should check out PKEW PKEW PKEW.
Haha I've been saying this the past year almost, told their bassist the same thing at the show last night
This is such a sweet line-up! Really stoked about seeing the Dirty Nil and Bleached again... And Against Me! for the whatever-th time it is. I've seen them a bunch over the years, hah.
