Yeah, this rules. My favourites after one full listen are probably Behind the Clock, Ash Speck, Blasphemy and Nooneunderground. The final track in particular is standing out to me. This is definitely my favourite since Decemberunderground
Congrats to whoever saw them in Denver last night and got to see Fall Children played for the first time in over 20 years
The last time they played it (according to setlist.fm, they might have played it later that tour) was my only AFI show. Oslo, Norway, 2003. They haven't come back here since then.
How the fuck is Fall Children not played every single night and not since 2003. The crowd goes nuts for it!
"Real Goths" only consist of the Ostrogoths and Visigoths from the late Roman Empire and early Medieval periods. What is known today as "Goth culture" is nothing but modern subcultural cosplay with questionable historical Goth influence. When people try to argue that bands like Bauhaus or The Cure are real Goth, while saying that Theodoric the Great is not, I can't help but cringe because they're just as fake Goth as shein e-girls and Hot Topic Mall Goths (plus the historical inaccuracy). Real Goths were FEROCIOUS, NOMADIC, and EMPIRE-SHATTERING. Fake Goths are brooding, weak, and a failed attempt to revive the name without the power. Some examples of REAL GOTHS are Alaric I, Theodoric the Great, and the warriors who sacked Rome. Some examples of FAKE GOTHS are Marilyn Manson, Robert Smith, and literally anyone who wasn't born on horseback. GOTH BELONGS TO HISTORY, NOT TO POST-PUNK, VICTORIAN COSPLAY, OR ANY OTHER WATERED-DOWN MODERN AESTHETIC.
Damn, I really love this album and now I'm upset that nothing else in their discography sounds like this lol.
they've always been a tinge goth, this record is more early post-punk/deathrock to me with all the afi twists and turns we've grown to love. album's been growing on me still, its going to be a tight race for number 1 of the year between this and planning for burial - and thom who does PFB is like my best friend. ugh, music.
There's nothing else that goes all-in on it like this album but I would say they've flirted with it and gotten pretty damn close on the last couple of albums, particularly Bodies and parts of Blood
