I love this record. It’s true that, being AFI, I kind of miss a bit of energy or rawness, but I guess I’ve got 11 or 12 other AFI albums where I can find that. I’m glad they stepped out of their comfort zone and the album being so well received.

    I really like the bside

  5. Same. I can see why it was left off as the dancey bits harken back a bit more to their older stuff (Decemberunderground even) than the rest of the record, but it would've been a fun single. Really catchy and hooky.

I forgot NFTs were a thing and then remembered how absolutely terrible they are for the planet, and also they're using AI for artwork? Also, terrible for the planet. But hey Davey is vegan!

NFTs in 2025? Even The Dangerous Summer knows that scam is over.

Wow not only would I not have ever thought I'd have to see AFI and NFT in the same sentence, but in 2025??? Incredibly disappointing and bewildering

The band didn't know about the ai but they did approve the NFT stuff beforehand.

  11. Call me ignorant but I legitimately did not know there was still a market for NFTs. Either they’re very out of touch or I am haha

Not the point here, but until bands started putting em out I always thought nfts were moreso designed to be a technology attached to a digital product more than a product themselves. More “this is how I know this digital painting is the OG” and less “here’s my AFI trading card, can I buy your underoath one?” Or maybe I still misunderstand.

  13. I always saw it as a grift, never saw anything that changed my mind but AFI jumping on it so many years late is funny (and disappointing... makes Davey's preachiness on his usual interviews ring hollow)

God, their Discord is a mess right now.

Fans, rightfully so, have questions and concerns, particularly around the lack of TOS and having to create an Ethereum wallet to join. Mods/Management are scrambling for answers, contradicting themselves, and becoming argumentative with fans.

One of their justifications is that this system works for A7X. Well, turns out, the backend is a company founded by M. Shadows himself. That was kept quiet until a fan went digging.

    Just... yikes.

The Despair Faction was such a unique fan club to be a part of. It felt personal and special, and, well... this doesn't.

I'm in the same camp at this point. Honestly, if you told me I could only listen to one AFI record from here on out, it's this one.

I really like this album and it's growing on me with each listen but I would not say I like this better than DU, Crash Love or Burials

du and crash love are both albums that have songs i really like on them but dont necessarily connect with front to back. i think i like burials more than this too though

Maybe it’s because I was smack dab in the middle of high school when it came out (I don’t think that’s the sole reason though) I think decemberunderground is their peak- blending their past and future together seamlessly. The STS/DU one two punch is just an all timer. That being said yeah this is their best since burials for sure.

stylistically du is my favorite period of the band tbh, i just think they coulda nailed the tracklist better with a lot of the stuff they left off. there are the seeds of a full on classic there

You know, Dashboard Confessional is one of those bands that I just... never listened to, so I apologize if I don't get the reference. I really should check 'em out

But a few songs in and I am so far on board with them fully embracing this sound. I need to revisit the last few albums but so far this is immediately sticking w me
