I know music is “subjective” or whatever but my god some of the comments on their IG are hilariously dumb and just… wrong.

2/2, another great song. I'm happy they're leaning into actual post-punk this time around.

 

This is great. Bowie would be proud.

 

I like this more than BTC though Davey's lower register is taking a bit of getting used to. I'm more encouraged for the record after hearing this.

 

Seems the record is going down an interesting direction. Roll on October 3rd.

i dont think ive ever been more excited for an AFI record after these 2 tracks.

 

2/2. Straight banger.

 

It's fascinating seeing the stark differences in what people mention as comparisons. You can really tell what people have (and haven't) listened to.

 

The opening synth is 100% Flock of Seagulls. Incredible nod.

 

Song sounds like a mix of Carly Rae Jepsen and Journey

I can hear that. Would only add that the bridge had some mariachi band vibes.

 

I liked Behind The Clock more, but this is fun. Catchy as hell.

 

I’m getting some Billy Idol on this new track too, mixed with some of the goth vibe influence.

These tracks have me really excited for this album. The last AFI release that I liked was Burials, and that also caught me by surprise. Hoping this one is solid all the way through

 

Well now I really need to go to the show on release day.

Prefer Clock by a large margin but still psyched for the album.

I think the hooks on both of these songs are so much better than most of what we have gotten since Burials. Say whatever you will about the sound itself, the production, Davey’s low voice but god damn, there’s some pace and groove and MELODY.

 

I got into this band with Blood, so I probably have a weird attachment to that one. Been my favorite even after a few years of listening to their discography. But I really didn’t think this band would ever release something that was just like, frame 1 my favorite thing I’ve heard from them. But both of the singles basically immediately became my top 2 AFI songs so I’m more excited for this than I thought I’d ever be for a new AFI record.

 

The new song gives me even more hope for the album.

It brings in enough of their Blaqk Audio 80s fetishism, without veering too far into it. It still sounds distinctly like AFI, not a side project.
