Crash Love is honestly an album I don't remember specific songs from, however that final guitar part on "Medicate" fucking slays.
I've googled it every few months since the announcement, never with even a shred of info! Anyway, it's exciting to finally have something
I personally like CL more as a whole, but I think DU is a better written album with more variety and more experimental sounds.
DU is around the time I first REALLY started listening to AFI even though I had All Hallow's prior (still my fav "run" of AFI) so I'll always have that if not top 2, top 3 for AFI.
Listened to Crash Love today for the first time in a while. I dont hate it as much as I used to, but its still not great, and easily their worst album. There's some enjoyable stuff on it though.
i love burials and all the new songs sound like less hooky burials songs to me but who knows maybe i'll get into them in the context of the album
Yeah am I crazy if I think all 3 of the new songs are dry as hell? *Disclaimer: I enjoyed both Crash Love and Burials
I'm kinda with you, hoping they will grow on me. Loved Sing, DU and CL upon first listens for the most part. Burials had to grow on me too or they sound better in context of the album.
I'm kind of in this boat, too. I thought they kind of sounded more like some of the songs from Sing the Sorrow than anything else (mostly songs like "Silver and Cold"), but as you said, they are kind of dry... Haven't disliked them, but I haven't exactly been hitting the replay button very much.
I couldn't put my finger on it at first, but I think the disconnect for these new songs for me is that I kind of never know where I'm at in the song. I'm pretty sure it's because they repeat the chorus so many times that I get lost because it seems like the hook should be over and they start it again. They do it in all three songs, too ("White! Offerings!", "I'll wait for you...", etc repeatedly). Feels very unnatural and doesn't really go anywhere.
Yeah, I mean none of these songs are bad per say, but none of them hooked me like their previous singles released before the album. Still excited to hear it as a whole, maybe the songs will sound better in the context of the album.
