  1. I'm very ignorant about production so I'm wondering what isn't right with how this new album sounds ?

My record arrived a few minutes ago. Not going to lie, the whole thing is gorgeous. The packaging is cool, and the variant might be one of my favorites that I own. Mine came with the Davey insert.

Will listen to this tonight. As long as the production doesn't completely muffle everything, I'll still probably enjoy this based on the preview tracks.

Burials was okay but everything before that is great imo.

Also how have I not seen these live yet? (It would help if they ever came to the UK)

The production is pretty muffled in my opinion. But give it a shot anyways!

They're on Jimmy Kimmel tonight so everybody knows.

I still haven't listened to the leak but I've been going through their discography to prepare. I haven't listened to any of their full albums in probably at least two or three years, but Sing the Sorrow still absolutely holds up and is probably one of my favorite albums of all time. I've also been underappreciating DU for all these years, and think Crash Love gets way too much hate. I also don't think they become a truly good band until Black Sails, and even that album isn't as good as Art of Drowning, their first great album imo. Don't know how popular that opinion is

Listening to Burials tonight and finally the new one tomorrow

  7. As much as I don't really like their first albums and am indifferent towards Crash Love, I'd say they haven't made a bad album yet. I agree that Decemberunderground got way too much hate. I wonder if it would've been better received had it been released few years later.

If anyone cares for the full quality version, the first non-transcode version of the album is out in the wild

They sounded awful on Kimmel IMO. Yikes. The backround track/lip-syncing didn't do it for me.

Snow Cats is also a really bad choice. White Offerings would've been better, and they even did Miss Murder as a second song? Really?

    hmmm

Yeah I watched that Miss Murder performance and it wasn't great, at least from a vocal perspective.

Davey hasn't been good live in years.

While I don't think most of the album reaches the highs of the first two singles, this album's a pretty enjoyable listen and I already am way more into it than the last two

We agree! (Even if I think ObO may be more underrated.)

The Color and the Shape is not underrated, unless you're referring to Echoes Silence Patience & Grace, which is actually just pretty damn boring

Haha yes, Echoes. Norton also produced the best Bayside album.

After 1 listen, I think this is pretty good. Gets a little same-y but there's definitely some catalogue stand outs here.

Bought it this morning after having listened to it for the last few weeks. Definitely like it way more than I initially did, although some of my complaints still stand. Hooks get too repetitive, production is muddy, and a couple songs could have been cut and I wouldn't have minded.

"She Speaks the Language" and "Still a Stranger" are still my favorites, but there is a chunk in the middle that I find myself singing quite a bit. "Above the Bridge" and "Get Hurt" are at the bottom of my list.

    No Fun. Not Ever.

Tried to give this another listen a few days ago. Same thoughts. Bored with it. It'll probably be just like Burials to me. If a song pops up on shuffle, I may listen to it. But I'm not going out of my way to.

  24. Yea, this isn't any good. Maybe 4 songs that I actually enjoy.

After two listens, there really isn't anything that stands out. It's just a boring album to me unfortunately.
