Feed From The Floor reminds me of Too Late For Gods for some reason. One of my favorite songs on here, actually.
For what it's worth, I've still been listening to this multiple times a day... Just a couple of tracks I'm still not big on, but I like it way more than I did.
I am in the same boat. Its definitely growing on me as I become more familiar with the songs. Lots of fun to sing along to.
give it a shot, i think youll really like it. its not very cohesive but its real good songwriting imo.
Finally getting around to this. Only two minutes in and you guys weren't kidding, it sounds horrendous
A typical AFI fan should like this a decent amount. Not like they've ever had that great of production
The songs are pretty decent so far, other than Dark Snow which I thought was a total snooze and terrible opener
Overall it's an alright album, but it's probably about three songs too long. I was engaged until about the last third or so, at which point I pretty much started waiting for it to be over. There's some really good stuff on here though.
Strangely the opener and the closer are the worst songs, tied with Aurelia and Feed From The Floor. Pleasantly surprised by the rest of the album, though I agree that it tends to sound all samey. I like how they went back to a more straightforward sound, but I kind of miss the electronic parts that made some of the earlier stuff so memorable. I'd say this is way better than Burial and Crash Love as a whole. Wait, I actually like the closer, but it feels so out of place in this position. She Speaks The Language should have closed the record.
It doesn't help this album that the videos and artwork are equally as toned down and kind of boring, too. Seems like it's pretty unanimous that they should have cut/replaced a few songs here, but I think my most hated part of the record is "Get Hurt" where he says "...that faulty heart, to start". The way he sings those lines annoys the hell out of me every time.
I was listening to this at the gym just now. I took off my headphones and "Snow Cats" was playing on the speaker at the same time. Weird, but I always get excited hearing someone like that in public.
Me too, and I think Finn's work is fantastic on STS and DU. And I've always enjoyed Gil Norton's sound.
i have no experience in audio production and i think i like it better that way. unless something is really good or really bad and noticeable to the lay person, i can't imagine someone's enjoyment of a song hinging on it.
I mean, I can enjoy a song with bad production and hate a song with good production, but how a song sounds is still an important aspect of it
Besides my whole argument rn is that the production for the band tends to come second to the songs for me
This has really been growing on me. I think I'm gonna go see them on the tour now, never had the urge to see them before either
