PRE-ORDER: AFI "DECEMBERUNDERGROUND" LP (Transparent Smoke Vinyl RSD E The moment we've all been waiting for!!
oh shit new new song huh dope. the outtakes from this period were always big highlights from these sessions for me, more so than a lot of the album tracks tbh. the more electronic stuff especially like the view from here makes me realize i should probably check blaqk audio
I was just telling my partner last night that I'm glad I'm not a variant collector, but might make an exception for those bonus tracks haha.
Listened to Black Sails in the Sunset last night as well as the All Hallows EP. The song writing has taken a massive leap between these releases and the last album and i'm here for it. I've loved the more hardcore punk of their previous releases, but I have a feeling they're about to come into their own and i'm intrigued to see if they continue to click for me or if the changes in their sound push me away. The descriptions i've read from this era suggests I wont like it as much, but i've been wrong many times over the past 5 years about these things, so who knows.
I've read this three times and I'm completely lost, mainly because Black Sails In The Sunset is great, so I'm at a loss as to what the giant leap is and what you're suggesting you might not like.
The leap is in song writing between Shut Your Mouth and Black Sails and I said I may not like the next couple of albums because everything i've read about those album (Sing the Sorrow) suggests a more pop punk/modern emo vibes that i've never really liked that style. But like I said, there's been plenty of music i've listened to in recent years that I thought i'd straight up hate that I didn't and ended up loving, so it may be the same with these next few albums too.
This makes sense, although I am very fond of Shut Your Mouth as well. I have a hard time thinking a fan of Black Sails and Drowning wouldn't also like at least Sing The Sorrow, since it's very much a culmination of that era, IMO.
That's fair, but i've lost count of the number of times i've gone though an artists full discography and not enjoyed the fan favourite stuff haha
I went for the AFI store black one, only because a) i still have my original copy and b) the bonus song on the IVC version leaked years ago. This other one has never been heard outside of the band's orbit
Listened to The Art of Drowning the other day. Still enjoying them, but noticing that the songs where they slow down are the ones I enjoy the least. Obviously good, but they're so much better when they're faster and punkier.
I think the best part is when they work in tandem - ala Lost souls and despair factor just to name two
can't sleep for some reason so i'm waiting up to get my despair faction code for the presale for the show at Starland Ballroom in october - they haven't played there since 2017 and that was one of the best sets I've ever seen them play. SUPER art of drowning heavy. Can't wait. Can't believe i still love this dumb band this much
Grabbed tickets for the Toronto show. First headliner here in 9 years. Can’t wait to see these guys again
Got tickets! I'm excited, though the venue is markedly worse than the one I saw them at for the first leg of this tour, a show that's probably top 5 all-time for me. But, they rarely come through, so I figured I need to see them again if I have the chance.
