I saw that! There was a video floating around but I couldn't hear Dave singing really at all so I didn't watch all the way through. Hoping they throw in some weird picks at tomorrow's show.
AFI is so good about mixing things up on their sets night to night. I love them for that. They know their fan base wants to hear the weird stuff and deeeeep and/or old cuts, and they usually deliver.
I know what financial need is like, but I also know what being in a band is like. It's fucked up to take control of art you created with someone else and not even consult them. AFI is handling this in a much classier way than I would.
Wow, I didn't know about the post above and what a fucking way to handle it. Absolutely no defense left for Geoff on that cash grab.
I'd be inclined to say he already is! Band is incredible and they are awesome dudes. With their catalog being so diverse I'm sure there is something for everyone to love.
yep id say the band and Davey are cemented as being among the best from our little scene. theyve had a big influence on a lot of bands and they continue to put out quality work. also because im a nerd about this sort of thing AFI pass the 5 album test with flying colors so yeah lots of material to chew on
I definitely would say he's a huge icon in the scene. I guess I more so thought of "legendary" as what it will be like when (if) he retires from music, and I'm 45 talking about them to other people.
always upsets me a bit when legendary bands like AFI put up new stuff and it doesn't make much of a splash on the site, especially since AFI in particular was so big when DU came out.
The Crash Love deluxe has quite a few. But there's more that haven't made any albums yet from them such as:
Crash Love may have something to do with that haha. I love both Burials and (most of) The Blood Album, but that album really was not good.
Crashlove is awesome! I don't get the hate it gets I'm hoping if we ever do a bracket for these guys and we get to that album, people revisit it and feel the loovveeee. I think End Transmission would take that round no doubt though.
Not necessarily hate, but that kind of stuff is just really not my cup of tea. It's weird cause most of Havok's work and interest in music I love, but that album along with Blak Audio could be in a dumpster fire and I would roast marshmallows before putting it out.
AFI bracket would be fun i really like Crash Love but its prooobably my least favorite of the Art Of Drowning-Blood Album run
I'd love an AFI bracket. Crash love is underrated but I'd probably agree with the post above that it's the worst in the "modern" era. I'd also probably tap out of the early albums if we did a bracket haha. If nobody wants to run it maybe I'll do it after the Silverstein ones. I don't have the time to run 2.
