End Transmission, Too Late for Gods, The Conductor and Rewind are my favorite post-Decemberunderground songs.
I would basically never listen to anything new by them or any other music that sounds like them really but sing the sorrow and days of the Phoenix still do it for me so hard
I am on board with with every release but Crash Love. Burials is a good album, not my favorite, but it proved that they still make music I want to listen to. And Davey's live vocal performances are insane these days after his stint on Broadway. Considering the quality of their performances as a band and the few times they tour these days, they are a must see band when they come near you. Edit: Rabbits are Roadkill is one of my favorite newer AFI songs. Always thought it was more than a b-side.
@Dirty Sanchez I did, but I didn't keep it around for very long. I know I liked everything on it except Wild. Couldn't get into that song at all. Sounds so messy to me.
The Conductor is such a great song. Just huge sounding and high energy. I haven't listened to it in over a year and I still find myself humming it regularly. Sing the Sorrow was one of my gateway albums into harder music. Can't wait to hear what these guys release next.
I wasn't very high on Crash Love when it was released, but it's grown on me a lot. There are some really great songs on that thing.
The Art Of Drowning is still their best album for me. Love it. That and Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes.
Black Sails is my favorite I think. Hard to choose one though. (Not counting EPs because then it's unanimously All Hallows)
Same here... when I was talking to Davey after the show I specifically thanked him for playing that song because I was so excited.
I cheated and looked at their setlists beforehand, but I was still so stoked when they started playing it because I couldn't believe it, haha.
I feel like I hold Decemberunderground in much higher regard than most of the core fanbase. The Interview, 37mm and Endlessly, She Said might all be Top 10 AFI songs for me.
Sing The Sorrow has the top spot for me. Second spot always rotates between The Art of Drowning and Black Sails. Then Shut Your Mouth & Open Your Eyes (feel like this is their most underrated album). After that it gets murky. I love all of their records, but I go through periods where I don't listen to Burials, Answer That, DU, etc. for awhile and where I'd rank them depends on my mood. I am a pretty big DU fan/apologist, though. I got into them after Sing The Sorrow came out so that was the first record of their's that I really anticipated and I'll always have a soft spot for that era of the band.
love these guys of the shit I know: Sing the Sorrow>Art of Drowning>Decemberunderground>Black Sails>Burials>Crash Love but I really love those first four also, really loved them on the StS tour - saw them again two years ago and it was OK finally, sick Bathory jacket, Jade Puget
Sing the Sorrow and The Art of Drowning are hands down my favorites. Not big on Crash Love as a whole but I dig Medicate, Beautiful Thieves, Veronica Sawyer Smokes. Have only ever really listened to Burials once through and nothing stuck out at me on first listen lol.
random initial though I had re: Burials: are they going Katatonia on our asses not close, but I saw a glimmer of that and it would have been amazing
