idk really. 15 songs long but a lot of the songs feel super short. really gotta give it some time to breathe

Just got done listening through for the first time. It's good, I need more time before I rank it. The beats and everything are all super solid though

I was just about to hit Post Reply when the little thing came up to say someone else posted since the page loaded haha.

This album sounds great so far. Can't wait to get the record in the mail.

Just got through my first listen through it. I like it, I'm just not in love with it (yet). It didn't grab me the same way "Skelethon" did when I first listened to that album. It's a very solid album though. I'm very surprised there aren't any features on any of the tracks (I'm assuming there will be some features on any bonus tracks that get released though). Either way I'll be listening to this probably every day for the next few months like I've done with every other Aesop/HMM/Uncluded album in the past few years.

  12. Might be hip-hop AOTY for me right now. Wasn't watching the video most of the time, but it looks like it's a pretty accurate retelling of The Shining ha.

From the bit I watched it's pretty much shot for shot, just shortened for the length of the album obviously. I listened through it again last night and it's growing on me more now. I think the biggest thing for me is that most of it stays at a slower tempo, whereas a few songs on "Skelethon" and his older albums are a bit more upbeat/faster.

got 3-4 solid listens through. definitely growing on me tho the latter half seems to be the strongest.

this verse in "defender" about bears cracks me up since i have the hugest fear of them

They're more scared of you, than you them
Although, one of us chews limbs, and one has two chins

  15. I always have to go back and read Aesop lyrics. I tend to focus more on flow and beats on most first listens, and Aesop's verses are usually dense so I often miss a lot of what he says especially.

I started cackling at my desk when I heard that line, it's so perfect.

I'm the same way with his music on first listen a lot of times. I didn't realize the first verse of "Blood Sandwich" was about someone killing a gopher until my second or third listen lmao

Haha the first verse of "Blood Sandwich" is hilarious. Not just someone killing a gopher, but killing one in front of a bunch of kids at a little league baseball game.

i'm definitely in the same boat of not catching lyrics until i've heard it a handful of times, though that bear lyric just stuck out to me for some reason.

gonna have to sit down with genius and this when i get some time.

    Bear

I don't know how I slept on this. Just found out about it today.

On my first time through, this is easily his best record. It all just flows.

some lines on this album are absolutely unbelievable.

Dead meat, time travel, pressure, and disease
As ushered out of two fingers pecking at the keys
The coping mechanism in his LMNOPs
Went from healthy to unhealthy to a hell he never leaves

also crazy to see it at #2 of the year over at RYM.

so i'm starting to fall in love with this as the lyrics start creeping out on me. i got chills when i caught this line on 'water tower' this morning

I had a pet lizard, he never got an obit
Fed him crickets, it was dead a fucking month before I noticed
An older me would note that whether disposable goldfish
Or theist, we certainly become the Earth as equals in a circle
Unique until the spirit isn't willing
