The Chicago show I’m going to on Thursday is being live-streamed! Grab a ticket and tell me if you see me in the crowd lol
I got to the show tonight shortly before it was to start and the line was down the block and around the corner. Took me a while to get in and the line was still suuuuuper far back when I got in. She’s really blown up from when I last saw her solo where the show sold out the week of and I was able to just walk right in. Crazy!
Looks like she played a new song the other night in LA, no recording yet though. Also broke out some other rare ones like Oldest and "cell phone"/"Hear It"
In mid-December, Luke Temple posted a pic of Adrianne with Meg Duffy (Hand Habits) and Sasami at Panoramic House, where HH had been recording. He just posted another pic of her there yesterday. Possibly recording, possibly just hanging out This is the place where she previously recorded abysskiss with Luke edit - looks like James is there too
London solo show announced for 6 March at EartH Adrianne Lenker • Events • EartH (Evolutionary Arts Hackney)
Finally got this on vinyl and spinning it now. Look I know we've been over this in various threads multiple times but it's unreal to me that Adrianne wrote and recorded an album as great as this one and then just turned around and made Dragon with Big Thief a few months later. It blows my mind
Yes. And this record sounds incredible on vinyl. It was pressed AAA. All analog straight from the tapes.
New audio of unreleased song "horsepower" from a livestream in April. Plus a recording of "cell phone" https://www.reddit.com/r/bigthief/comments/vwiyi7/adrianne_playing_two_new_songs_horse_power_and/
Very brief podcast appearance talking about accessing your emotions and trying to be there for yourself. context starts around 31:00, Adrianne comes in around 34:30 https://www.pushkin.fm/podcasts/loudest-girl-in-the-world/9-i-love-you-sweetheart
Looks like another triple analog album is being recorded this is at Phil’s studio Sugar Mountain in NYC Edit - no idea if it’s actually a full album but hopefully it is
I hope you’re right, Songs is a top 3 Adrianne release for me at this point so I’m very excited for her next solo project
Her past two solo albums were recorded early in the year and then released a few months later in the fall. I was anticipating we’d get a Dragon pt2 album early this year but new Buck, Adrianne, and Big Thief all in the same year seems unlikely
Phil posted again, that's enough evidence for me to assume it's an album and not just a mini session. I believe a-sides/b-sides was the last time she recorded outside of an isolated location/session. I'm curious if being around friends etc will have any noticeable impact on the sound of the album. Looks like one impact already is guest musicians. Fiddle plus the name "M", Mat Davidson (Twain) feels like a very safe guess. Some other M names that come to mind are Mikey Buishas, Maia Friedman, Matt Bachmann, though I don't think any of them play fiddle.
Basically just an urban environment. She/they typically record at more remote locations where they stay at or near the studio. So it's a much more concentrated environment of just living together and making music. Right now, she's recording in NYC where she's around friends and city life. I'm just wondering if the different setting might influence the album in some way, possibly sounding brighter or more busy or something like that. Just some excited rambling/hypothesizing
interesting. didn't know that, I think abysskiss was recorded with Luke Temple in the Bay area and UFOF near Seattle so assumed there was always a blend of city/rural truthfully I haven't been a fan of anything since the twin albums but abysskiss is an all timer for me so cautiously interested
That's true, those were not especially remote but still outside of the city center and I believe they stayed on-site for both as well. abysskiss was my introduction to Adrianne/Big Thief, would absolutely love another solo album on that level. Here's a great new one played a few months ago if you haven't heard it yet - https://www.facebook.com/harrymwilliams/videos/8571545246219885
Some new instagram stories in the studio include a clip of "Vampire Empire" and Phil mentioning that they're using a binaural head mic (also used for songs). abysskiss - recorded early January 2018 and released October 5, 2018 songs - recorded May 2020 and released October 23, 2020 October seems like a safe estimate for when this will come out
