Been waiting years to see them and they're playing a tiny place in Chicago, and of course it's when I'm out of town for my sister in law's wedding.
Been doing the same the last couple weeks. These guys are a gift, honestly. Also been reading along the lyrics. Dude can write a fucking sentence.
I just heard about this band for the first time because of this comment in the TREOS thread: I listened to the first song and holy shit is this Anathallo come back to life??? I guess I gotta give this whole thing a listen soon huh. Should I check out Prelude first, then the album?
Can't really go wrong with any of it, but my impulse is to say just dive into this album and then go back to the older stuff. This is their best, and you get to hear "O Tonight" sooner.
There seems to only be three releases so I went with chronological, and am listening to Prelude right now... this is so good. the Opus will be consumed soon, I will report back
I can't believe I only learned about this band a few weeks ago, this album is SO good. Just wild stuff going on left and right, love it
the lyrical depth is astounding too, once you get to the point where you want to follow along the story.
For my most recent listen I followed along with the hardbound liner notes, which is an experience all its own.
Also from the update: New song "The Festival Grounds" coming soon, and they said they'd be playing something from the next Idyll Opus at these shows as well.
If I could find a contact for them, I'll see if they can play in Lakeland on Thursday June 26 the day before Gainesville
Venue info for the tour up on their site: https://www.theidyllopus.com/tour They're playing a tiny bar in Chicago (cool) where the shows start at 10:00 PM (not cool). But if there's a band worth staying up way past my bedtime for, it's Adjy.
