Anyone else here going to the Phantom Planet/Wheatus pre-show tonight in NYC? Realllllly would like to know what time doors open and Wheatus goes on.
Cliffdiver's incident really spooked me, please drive safely everyone! I'll post my outfits in here this evening so if anyone sees me, please stop me & say hey
Neil Rubenstein is doing a set at this comedy club tomorrow night for those there early! The Atlantic City Showcase ft. Geo Perez, Neil Rubenstein, Meghan Walsh, Kevin Hurley - May 26th 8:30PM
The allowing re-entry until 6pm is good for the people and possibly for ticket sales, but seems like a shitty deal for the food vendors though right? Like all along this is pitched to the vendors as “x amount of people at this festival, who can’t leave, can’t bring outside food or drink, so when they get hungry/thirsty they will have to go to you”. And now anyone can just leave and go get food at the boardwalk instead. Now I don’t know how big of an impact this actually would be for the vendors, but can’t imagine it does anything but hurt them
You’re not wrong, but I suspect the vendors will still do pretty well. Memorial Day weekend in AC is incredibly busy, and all the food joints on the boardwalk are going to be packed, so a lot of people probably won’t bother leaving just for food and eat at the fest instead
I remember at warped tour AC at one of the food trucks I paid like $15 for 2 chicken fingers + fries and $7 for a small lemonade. Imagine what they would be charging now with inflation lol
Gramercy went nuts at the last Phantom Planet song - I'm not going to say what they do with it, though, in case they repeat it this weekend.
Here’s a fun question: Anyone you guys are going to see that you are on the fence about? Or straight up don’t like at all? Like for example it isn’t a band that I don’t like but never got super into, but my wife loves Motion City Soundtrack. I’ve always thought they had some good songs, but as much as I have tried can’t get into them as a whole.
Motion city is great and really good live. But due to Justin's back issues, the guitarist from AAR is filling in for guitar duties and Justin will just be singing. Curious how that will all be. But happy he's able to perform! But to answer the question it's turnstile. I cannot get into them so maybe their live show will turn that switch on for me.
I will say in my 25 years of going to shows the turnstile headliner last year was one of the only times I can remember every single person in the room was moving and screaming every word.
I never got into Slaughter Beach, Dog. Listening always just made me want to listen to mobo. Giving them a go tomorrow
I’ve only been a super casual Jimmy Eat World listener. But I’ve gotten way more into them the last couple weeks in prep for this. Especially the Futures songs. So it’ll be my fourth time seeing them, but first time actively excited
