These ticket prices are absolutely insane ($450-700 a piece from Ticketmaster...$4500 platinum seats). And then the tickets are being flipped for down payments on homes. ($5,000-$20,000)

You're definitely not from California if you think that's a down payment haha

Hot take: no one should be paying that much money for a ticket ever. There should be a limit on how much you can pay for a concert ticket as a multiplier of the list price.

Adele is great, but I think it’s comical that anyone would possibly think those prices are worth it.

the resale prices are absolutely insane but if that’s, like, floor level in front of the stage, 400-500ish for adele isn’t crazy at all really

(Potentially) Hot(ter) Take: There should be no resell market at all, with the stipulation that ticket sellers must allow refunds/returns for any reason. It works in European sports/concerts that I've gone to in Italy and Spain, and if Camp Nou can enforce it for 98,000 people, any venue/arena/stadium in the US can as well.

Yep! Especially given how digitized everything is.

3% down on a $650k house is $20k so that works for Orlando where I'm around lol.

I know Billy Joel said he hates the people who drop $800 on a ticket because they're just being a big shot, pun intended, and don't really care about the show

I think a $200 cap or so is reasonable but between booking fees and production costs and paying staff shows are expensive to put on

I really like his solution to it though. If you don't know, he doesn't sell tickets for the first few rows at his shows, but before the show his team goes to the nosebleed sections and picks big fans to bring down from the worst seats to the best.

I mean yeah...3% is the minimum. 5-7% is the US Average. It was a throw-away comment about how expensive the re-sell tickets were...lol

weird, maybe it's another California thing, but 10% is standard out here

If it’s truly those 24 dates $200-$500 seems acceptable. I’m just tired of “fees” being added on. Just give us the final price. It hurts less.

there is a function on ticketmaster to show that. you just have to go into the filter

yeah I only ever buy tickets with that filter on

i think as more “poor” millennials become homeowners, that percentage is going down. It would take me 4-5 years to save up 10% of a downpayment on a house right now.

yeah true, but on the flip side if you can't put down 10% then it's hard to qualify for a loan that covers more than 90%, blah blah blah. anyway, I kinda derailed this thread hahahh
