It is weird to see James Gray with a big blockbuster. He has consistently put out very good work, so hopefully his voice was able to carry to a bigger production.

Thought this was pretty good. It's kind of like Malick lite by way of "Apocalypse Now. It's more of a straightforward story than I expected with a little too much voiceover. It's visually stunning too.

I was definitely not expecting the reviews to be so glowing.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

so this movie was pretty great but let's talk about the space baboon scene. specifically: why in fuck was there a space baboon scene

All I need to know is if it’s a canon Space Cowboys sequel or not.

Loved the cinematography in this, story didn’t gell together for me in the final third unfortunately.

And holy shit did some of my (now-ex) friends hate this movie lol

this works well as a companion to the themes of Lost City Of Z
a space movie that is primarily a case study on toxic masculinity and inherited behavior is definitely an interesting concept
Brad Pitt was really well cast
it was a tough watch at times because even though I understand why narratively there are so many Brad Pitt monologues
also shout out to the random af Natasha Lyonne cameo

Really liked this; 2nd half of the movie I was intentionally making sure I was analyzing every scene and shot, making sure I understood what was going on. Because the pace was fairly slow, it gave me enough time to do it, hahaha. Film started going off the rails a tiny bit the closer Brad Pitt got to Neptune, but it still held up to me. I still don't quite understand what the actual use, or purpose, of the anti-matter machine was. How was it used to search for ET life? Was it just used to power the ship itself for years on end, while stationed waay the f*** out there? Or was the device itself used to scan for life in some way? How did it produce the electrical surges that went out into the rest of the solar system? How did TLJ not run out of food and water after so many years? So many questions

Loved hearing music from Nils Frahm played a few times before Brad left Earth. And loved the soundtrack overall, composed by Max Richter.
