Very weird. I shared the article in a private FB group I’m in and didn’t have any problems. But I did it on Friday, so idk if anything’s changed since then.

It’s not something you’re really going to be able to test. But I’m relatively confident it being flagged as spam has nothing to do with it specifically being about Brand New.

Actually I just looked at the post I made a few days ago and…

I’ve seen this happen before because that’s how some news articles show up for Canadians on FB because Meta decided to ban “news” there.

But the article is clearly still up on Medium so idk what’s going on.

this bird post remains up. Remember it’s not the bands reach, it is the marketing team they hired to support their social media campaigns, so while the band may not have the pull, social media agencies and PR agencies absolutely do.

This made me look this up because I had never really heard this story before. Unfortunatley the only result is from the bn subreddit from like 15 years ago, so I don't know if this is just painting them in a better light or what, but what a wild story

Can't imagine being so petty that you fuck your fan base over because another band you don't like possibly big timed you a little bit on stage time.

I remember back then fans mostly just being like “it’s cool they do whatever they want” but I didn’t think further into it. I don’t remember where this convo would’ve been happening. Maybe on the BN forum or in the YouTube comments.

I googled and found an article from 2012 where they seemingly acknowledged the 2007 performance.

I remember it happening. I wasn’t there, but it was all over AP. It happened.

Wow I've never seen that 70x7 video before. That was atrocious.
Even with that reddit user trying to paint BN in a better light they still sound like absolute assholes.

Given the timing of that show and all the puzzle pieces and timing from the stories from the women that have come out, and the band's dynamic on stage in those years, and all the "mysterious" not releasing new music andd etc etc etc, I would imagine this is around the time when he was getting his ass humbled by his wife and other people in his life over all the shit he pulled in the years prior. This was that time period where he was getting all weepy on stage at shows here and there and thanking his band mates for sticking with him all the time and blah blah blah. So it makes sense that they actually showed a little bit of shame for that bullshit they/he pulled in 2007 at this point.

Not to beat a dead horse, but it's never gonna matter how much he may have "worked on himself" during those years unless he does something to actually fix the harm he caused and make amends with the women he hurt and make the scene safer for girls in the future and etc. All the shit someone with his personality will seemingly never be willing to do.

Out of all the things to get mad at Jesse for now, being a diva onstage in 2007 or acting arrogant towards the All-American Rejects is not something I can find it in me to care about tbh.

There was also the Lolla performance where they played before the first RATM reunion, and the crowd kept chanting for Rage and being disinterested in Brand New, so he said "here's Bombtrack" before Degausser, told everyone to leave and watch Explosions in the Sky instead, and then acted super pissed during You Won't Know to end the set 15 mins early before throwing his guitar and walking off the stage

For the record, I don’t think generally being an asshole is on par with any of the stuff he’s been accused of. (Even when I was a fan, I figured he probably was at least kind of a jerk.)

But with what we know now, it does change how I used to look at (and excuse) their “mysteriousness.” Maybe that’s not what we should be spending time on in this thread. But as someone who spent so much time thinking about this band for years, I guess I’m sort of getting sucked back into it, even if it’s just to recontextualize how I felt back then.

Shame you can't protest anything anymore without being deported or disappeared, otherwise it'd be cool if big groups could rally together to protest outside their upcoming shows. Some people might be learning about it for the first time, but others can be reminded that they're walking in to see a pedophile at least.

  13. Ironic how diligently this thread is likely being watched by his team, but no matter how many times it's reiterated that there could be a path forward if he were to follow, for instance, Aiyana's detailed steps, they simply won't do it

Thought I'd post this here. Further proof that I reached out to a restorative justice facilitation team in Nashville in 2021 to initiate a process with Jesse that went nowhere.

I remember this exact same thing happened with Warren Ellis (the comicbook writer not the music guy). Ignored people for about a year or so then finally got into contact with them only to ghost them again. And it would've been so much easier for him because what he did was tame in comparison to Jesse. Sad to see men who abuse their influence just not do the right thing time and time again.

Yeah, I find that interesting too. I remember one of the rare interviews thinking how selfless and how much integrity I thought they must have. Naturally, now I view it as the behaviour of a calculated and callous abuser.

I get the sense that a lot of people are still quietly watching here, so I wanted to share this excerpt from a 2017 Vulture article that came out after Nicole came forward. This is my friend Ryan, who I met through the Brand New Street Team. He was trying to corroborate my story at the time. For anyone still questioning whether I made this up, the evidence is there.

That article mentioning the tour not selling out kind of undersells the situation. I just checked TicketMaster and some of these stops are going to feel empty. I pulled up the Utah show, for example, and I mean it might be lucky to hit 50% capacity. I have no idea what calculus went into booking these giant venues, but someone received some bad intel.
