Thank you for going into such detail as to what this looks like for you. This is not a hard concept to grasp and it’s why I’m so frustrated with the fanbase as they simply take Jesse’s word and ignore everything else.

“Oh he did the work.”
Did he, though? He claims he did with no proof.

“He apologized.”
In a public statement and seemingly never to any of the individuals he harmed.

None of that matters unless he’s proving it to you and his other victims who wish to participate in the process. My opinion doesn’t matter regarding any of this, it’s yours.

I've had multiple people thank me for sharing @aiyana91's piece and tell me how it's made them reevaluate their relationship with the band, including people who went to their comeback show here in Dallas. She is making very real tangible change and I hope over time the change grows and grows until something can really happen and there can be some semblance of accountability.

A coincidence that I'm sharing this after the doomer post but it is an example of the fact that we CAN do better

It's so difficult to weed through whether someone's motives are authentic or performative & potentially manipulative, whether it comes from a person in a position of power or people we interact with on a daily basis. These conversations are so important & I'm really glad we're having them here as a result of all this shit.

Last week's tour announcement finally pushed me to watch the Jimmy Savile doc on Netflix yesterday, which feels very similar to the situations surrounding Bill Cosby where we discover later that an entire career based around generosity was just a cover for them to manipulate victims. The allegations surrounding Nahko a few years ago felt somewhat similar to me too. I always thought Dispatch's statement addressing the Nahko allegations after touring together should be a good model for how artists should respond in similar situations.

You aren't taking over, this is EXACTLY what this forum is for, so thank you again! Your revelations are actively changing people's opinions & helping reshape views surrounding this band & hopefully other situations moving forward. Myself included, I just saw Kevin Devine a few months ago & thought really highly of how he handled himself while on tour with BN when everything came to light. You mentioning he & Andy is extremely eye opening, thank you for being so brave to do so.

I hate the blame your mother is getting...I grew up going to church which led to me being abused as a child, which isn't my parents' fault & precisely why I haven't told them, but I can't fathom the blame a parent feels when this happens while they're actively raising a child to the best of their abilities. So thanks for the update on the article for your mom

 

Honestly, this reads like something a 13-year-old would send after learning some basic insults. At this point, it’s almost impressive how this kind of toxic behavior has become synonymous with the band.

The worst part is, from my own time within the fanbase of the band, I am not surprised.
