Well, I tried to submit it to a couple subreddits and it was automod'd so there's that.

Thanks for reading. With the whispers of a new album, and a "personal documentary cataloguing what they've 'been through' over the last 20 years," our stories need to be seen and heard now more than ever.

I'm sharing this far and wide. You're a stronger person than me and deserve to have your story heard.

Reddit is a cesspool of apologists, it probably wouldn't gain any traction there anyway

I tried for the larger music subreddits hoping it'd be let through but I'm not surprised they're protecting one of their beloved.

Here's the audio clip of him referencing the pool party we were invited to that evening, as well: 32 Talking.mp3

Thanks for sharing your story. I really hope it enlightens some of the apologists that have embraced this return and they start to understand the weight of his actions.

I remember this recording too. I had tickets to the solo tour too, but couldn’t go so I watched all the footage I could. I just assumed his WOW guild was some dudes. It’s absolutely wild that he was referring to literal children.

  12. What an absolute monster. Fuck that band and fuck him.

Jesus Christ that story with those pictures, awful. I can't fathom the lengths people are going to to defend a serial predator like this. Disgusting.

Thank you @aiyana91 for sharing your story. I’m the same age as you, and the photos you shared with your story made me think about being a fan at that age. How I would’ve been in the same position as you if I ever saw them before I was an adult and ended up in that situation. I think about my female friends in the same boat, who had been to many BN concerts when they were teens…and how we looked and how we would’ve acted if we had been in your exact position.

and reading this made me feel physically ill. your story is valid and important and I am glad you’ve spoken up. it’s not an easy thing to discuss and I am just sending you all the love.

I have a friend who befriended Jesse a bit but she was over 18 at the time. He did get her number, she never heard from him. It became very obvious why when the stories came out.

Thank you so very much, and thanks to everyone showing their support. This is a very vulnerable*, emotional day for me, and the support means the world.

John // OC now, OH forever.

Going to and working shows from that 2003-2008ish period where some of these bands were hugely successful and attracting a LOT of young fans, I saw SO many teen girls hanging around tour buses, bringing singers gifts, and referring to them as "the boys" because they thought there was a friendship there. This scene really should have done more to protect those kids.

Yeah – the dam still hasn't broke on the rest of the scene yet, it's been just Jesse Lacey and Chris Conley who got outed from that era. And there are obviously way more who haven't been publicly named.

The photo with him and the family is gutting. All judgment on him and not family/friends/kids who were being manipulated there. Thanks to the author (and now poster here) for sharing this. I see the responses are off/hidden. I really really hope people haven’t been jackasses in response to this, especially not in the article comments itself.

Drive thru records invasion tour could be its own scandal. I went to the show in San Diego when I was 18 and went to the busses after the show to try to smoke pot with the bands and hung out for maybe a half hour. One member from one band and another member of another band took these two women to the back of the bus and turned on the lights and opened the blinds so everyone could watch. A couple dozen people watching and laughing, and then the women had all sorts of insults hurled at them when they exited the bus, including the roadie for one band who yelled “your dad is a better fuck than you” along with other members of the tour booing and calling them sluts/whores or whatever. Then one of the dudes gets off the bus with his shirt off and a bagel hanging out of his mouth while everyone clapped and laughed. I’m sure that night was not the only night like that on that tour.

It was hard to take their “emo” music seriously after that.

They have been as idiotic and ridiculous as you’d expect. I got tired of dealing with people in the comments claiming “cancel culture” and arguing things that I clearly addressed in the article itself. They’re all morons.

I think I was on indieheads a couple nights ago and someone brought up Jessie’s history and someone replied “no there’s soooo many holes in this story if you wanna know the truth go to (bands subreddit) and read this file for the truth.” Like what?? These people are on some Alex Jones shit.

Thank you for sharing your story. It infuriates me that you can write something so thoughtful and fair, and still be attacked by fans who refuse to have empathy for anyone other than their artistic hero. Just know there are plenty of people who support you, and that your words are meaningful
