I am having a hard time remembering if I passed out at all the other night when I was shitting and puking my insides out. If this was the 2nd time in a calendar year I passed out and got concussed while shitting I’ll be mad

like do some of y'all suddenly posting here not read the previous pages of this thread? it's pretty clear that we're not entertaining positive conversations about a man who groomed minors or the music he makes. what makes you think your comment's the one that's gonna turn the tides?

after seeing some posts on other platforms about people being excited that BN is back i had to log back onto Chorus.fm to remind myself i’m not crazy. preaching to the choir here but it’s awful that they not only have the nerve to do a tour, but that people are wanting to attend (and trying to justify doing so!)

just goes to show how microscopic online spaces truly are. i really resonate with a post from earlier in this thread on how BN still plays in long island bars/emo nights. i’ve encountered my fair share of songs in the wild and it’s always so jarring to look around and see people visibly enjoy it. i genuinely wonder if its obliviousness to the situation or absolved apathy.

 

One of my friends is wanting to see Brand New live. I couldn’t tell him for the 6th time that it’s not a band to support because that won’t change his mind, so I just told him “dude, as someone who has seen them before, they suck ass live. You’d rather save your money for a band that actually sounds good”

 

My only contribution is that an old buddy of mine, who’s not at all, “online,” asked me if I heard about Brand New’s return.

I simply told him that the vocalist is a groomer and pedophile.

His response was, “oh fuck them.”

I'm getting strong ap.net flashbacks and it makes me very uncomfortable to continue following this thread. It makes me believe few of us, contrary to what they'd believe, have learned as much as they think since that time.

I feel like a conversation needs to be had about de-escalating and, even, putting a stop to the conversation soon enough, when things get too heated. I'm not only talking about the mods, even though it's their responsability to ensure these conversations don't reach a boiling point in the first place. It's something I've sensed way too many times and I feel like I need to say something.

I don't need to see an user, even if they came here in bad faith and deservedly got called out for it, piled on again and again for this many pages!

At some point, it's enough. Whether said user got the point or not is their problem, but I don't see how continuing to quote reply to their posts with name calling and shit is is any way meaningful and productive. If you see them continue to dig a hole for themselves, just kick them or ban them from that thread and propose to move on from that topic for the time being.

Don't get me wrong, this action does happen but way too often much later than it should and at that point, many more peeps than needed already got very upset. Again, it's uncomfortable to watch. I don't see how this contributes to making this place safer. I feel like it's the accountability thread on ap.net again in these cases.

I wish you guys would realize that. I'd love to elaborate further but I need to leave so I'll come back later.

 

I mean it makes sense because you would have to have some anti-social tendencies to even want to be there in the first place.

 

Do you think this is a good thing? Do you think this invalidates anyone's opinion? Just because BN doesn't give a shit about anything other than making money doesn't mean people shouldn't criticize them, if anything it's just another reason TO criticize them. I don't think anyone in here is making a post thinking they're gonna stop Brand New from being successful, so I'm not sure what your larger point is?

 

Doing so in such a fashion scares off and prevents other posters from doing the same as Jesse Atticus.

Jesse Atticus was ganged up on and responded to in such a manner to ensure that no one on here dares to act or behave the same way. He was made an example of. What he posted will not be tolerated. Moderators and members of this community felt the need to send a message by any means necessary.

JoshIsMediocre also made it clear towards the end of page 970 of this thread. It's not just what you post. Your likes are being monitored by the moderators.
