i just feel like people should be able to read a room. if you spent 30 seconds skimming the posts in here you’d see pretty quickly it’s not exactly a place cool with being positive about brand new in any capacity. from that point it’s post at your own risk.

I just wish some people were taught how to have productive conversations in good faith about these kind of things that don't negate the victim or victims experience, help navigate peoples' feelings about an artist they like that's an abuser/pedo/sex pest and help them move on and see that wow, there are so many other bands that don't do disgusting shit and some that even support good and worthwhile causes.

But I think the Rogans, Louis CKs, Chappelles, Kanyes, etc. have made it a "You either support me or you're a cancel culture sjw snowflake" situation where these brainwashed folks feel they have to take up arms against victims and/or anyone that wants them to be held accountable, all because something they made affected them personally or makes them feel nostalgic. It's not enough that they weren't canceled and are still doing everything they want and more. The people that want some kind of justice need to have their faces rubbed in it and should be shouted down at all costs. All empathy and understanding goes straight out the window and these conversations can't happen.

I've been saying for some time the breakdown in societal norms has been snowballing for some time now but really hit a peak downhill speed when Trump became president and now has gotten worse with a second term after being voted out once. Everyone saw that there are no consequences for the most powerful person in the world so why would there be any for them?

This also applies to simple things like following simple rules like the speed limit.

Honestly, I couldn’t care less how fast or slow someone drove in general. However, it’s the ones who go slow in the passing lane or so fast that they will ride your ass regardless of your speed and endanger you if you need to suddenly stop.

I agree that there are people who resort to name calling and generalisations about groups of people when it comes to the BN conversation. I see it here and I see it in other places too, e.g. comment threads on FB posts.

Also, don't want this to be taken as me defending these weirdos. Only saying I wish they could have a conversation and be deprogrammed so they can acknowledge an artist made them feel good or related to them at some point, but also, they're monsters that don't deserve anyone's support, financially or otherwise, and it's the victims that need support because they have to suffer through all their comeback tours and chucklefucks singing "Die young and save yourself" with no sense of justice.

I haven't really talked about it much but the SeeYouSpaceCowboy saga has been interesting to follow just because it does parallel what it's like as a fan of music to be surrounded by people who believe different things than yourself about bands (not gonna name any) and sticking to your convictions/navigating those relationships still. I really feel for Connie Sgarbossa, excited to see what she does next but I wouldn't blame her if it discouraged her altogether, it's really hard to be in a band with people you'd probably die for and then discover they don't care at all about you and will make decisions like this for you and put you in an impossible position. Hoping for the best for her and for anyone who has had to sever relationships over their priorities/beliefs

 

I haven’t noticed Teslas doing it personally. One I saw today was someone who clearly felt they belonged in the left lane no matter what though. He had two cars on his ass and me keeping distance. He finally moves right, only to immediately go left again after the two cars pass. He wasn’t even passing a car. Ugh.
