Making the conscious decision to waltz into an accountability thread and go "hey where's a good place I can talk about being excited about Brand New's return" means you already lost the plot from the start, no amount of backtracking and trying to pull a "this culture should be better" can overlook that. Are some people in here tough on those willing to show their asses freely? Yep, but someone that willing to freely show their ass was never truly interested in making a "better culture" or have a thoughtful, genuine conversation.

 

Sometimes you should just keep your opinions to yourself and move on. No one’s mind is being changed especially when you come in locked and loaded with a pretty weak argument. Go buy tickets to see brand new, whatever that’s on you and your money being spent. But keep your defense stored away in your notepad app or journal because its better off kept to yourself, otherwise *broadly gestures* this happens.

 

Every conversation that can be had about that band has been attempted by this point. It doesn't work because people don't actually want those conversations, they just want to be able to plug their ears and enjoy a band from their teenage years and dress it up like they're actually really mature about it, and they want to bait people into their ultra clever gotchas. We're done with it. No more benefit of the doubt and explaining like you're a 5 year old, because if you wanted to be ~mature~ about it you'd sit and think about it more and you'd shut up.

There’s plenty of bands I like that I don’t talk about on here just because no one else really gives a shit and that’s fine it’s just the demographics of this site. If you really need a place to talk about Brand New with no pushback Reddit is right there.

Sidenote - this movie scared me as a kid. I watched it with my son a couple years ago and it scared me just as much as an adult haha
