A user on the brand new subreddit posted a photo of them taking their small child to a brand new concert

 

And who posted it here and why?

 

I think the user shared it just to point out how gross & frustrating it is how some BN fans are out there celebrating bringing their child to see that band.

I’m sure the user didn’t think it fully through that actually sharing that post of someone they don’t know and and their child somewhere else on the internet prob ain’t it either

I will say to you what I say to all of my friends whenever this comes up with any band with allegations: it is either important to you to not monetarily support individuals that are predators or it isn't. it's that simple. if you want to go see Brand New. Fine. Do that. No one is stopping you. But it does mean that you have no problem giving money to a man that grooms underage girls and helping to give him a platform to do that again if he chooses to. If you don't like how you feel about that fact, change it or accept that you are not the person you want to believe you are.

there is no nuance to this. if you actually care about these things but still want to listen to the music you have nostalgia for, you have the records and cds you already bought before you knew the truth and can listen to them at home without Brand New receiving a cent for it. There's settings on spotify to listen to files downloaded to your phone and add them to playlists so you can conveniently listen to those songs wherever you want without Brand New getting a dime. No one has a problem with discussions about how betrayed you might still feel or how terrible it is to have these positive memories attached to the art of terrible people and figuring out how to reconcile that and move on. but that's not the conflicting feelings you want to talk about, is it?

Welp, Brand New announced a full-fledged US tour. Arenas and outdoor theaters.

Yeah just saw the announcement.

it was weird seeing that they’re coming to Philly and just having no interest at all. Last time they were in the area I did the whole sign on at noon trying to get tickets and got them for me and my wife and we were both really exited and etc. Wanna say it was September or October before the allegations dropped. To go from that to not caring at all about going to see this show is just crazy. Confirmed for me what I’ve been saying all along about my own personal feelings—I still listen to the music, though not nearly as often, and I’m sure I’ll download any new music because it’s an artist that has found ways to write music that has had meaningful connections to my life in the lyrics over the years and I can ‘separate the art from artist’ in that sense I suppose. But I’m not buying it and have no interest in financially supporting this band.

And I’m not sure there’s anything they could do to change that for me at this point. Or at the very least, the things I think they could do to change that are very clearly not going to happen at this point

Yeah, same. I saw them at the Mann when they came back last time too. I feel nothing now and it's weird thinking about the excitement I had back then in comparison. Oh well.

 

I will be honest…I feel something. It’s like…there exists an alternate reality where Brand New reuniting in 2025 would be the thing that carries me through months of the absolute shit going on in the world…but in this reality their reunion is another log onto the fire.

For weeks now, as this reunion seemed inevitable, I’ve been reaching out to friends to try to reconcile my feelings with the band, but I just could not see them live again. I would feel sick about it the rest of my life.

 

I mean coming in here and defiantly posting that to thumb your nose at people ... what did you expect?
