Paramore does it right because they properly compensate the fans that do it and give them credit. It keeps the fans from bootlegging Paramore merch on Etsy and gives artists money and credit they can put on a resume.

Having fans do work like this with proper credit given, or with compensation for the work, is totally fine and can be great for building a fan base.

Getting fans to do free work when you've fucked your fan base over repeatedly is gross and exploitative.

Yeah it's pretty common for remix contests not to offer anything monetary other than exposure and a few gifts instead of cash, but this is more common in the EDM world.

Idk, I thought a really cool one was when Alkaline Trio released the sheet music to Love Love Kiss Kiss before they released the actual song and had people use the sheet music to perform the song and submit vids of it.

Nah, Morrissey is going to have a residency at the Trump Center, formerly known as the Kennedy Center.

My first thoughts were Our Lady Peace and Finger Eleven since they barely tour the US anyway, but I guess they're both doing that right now, so never mind.

Good lord this brand new reunion fucking pisses me off. Out of morbid curiosity I look at a live stream, they’re playing You Stole, they sound great, and it just makes me angry. An appropriate song, considering how much Jesse has stolen when it comes to the innocence of a child and how much my memories of this band and the music also feel stolen, tarnished, now disgusting. I just don’t know how people can support it.

I came out in 2020 and a big catalyst to transitioning was because of the storm of MeToo, a misogynist pig in office, the embarrassing display of people when it came to how they behaved in the pandemic, and of course, an increasingly hostile government towards trans people. I think the biggest one though, is because of people like Jesse, and others in our scene, who betray, use and abuse and the dissonance that created in my own existence. How could my one escape from a closet of misery be rotten like this? I even halfway respected that he fucked off - but all for what? To slither back in when the temperature cooled? To not even acknowledge it and just sell tickets and flip on the merch store. It disgusts me

It’s shameful for them in 2025 to come back and just, act like nothing happened. It’s equally shameful for the people to attend, to buy tickets and merch and support a fucking admitted abuser and p*dophile just to have their precious memories back. Do people have no values at all?

Yeah, not to belabor what we said before, but there’s simply no accountability. Their fan base is too big and annoyingly vocal.

Kids that never got to see them can say that’s their justification. Other psycho fans shouted down the victims and get their wish fulfillment with them back.

All you can really do is not support it and support bands that didn’t groom minors and faded away like cowards until the right moment. It’s maddening to see them back, but it was never not going to happen. Jesse can fuck off with his whole “My wife told me to do it as therapy” horseshit.

Absolutely. No accountability and you nailed it with the fans. He can also fuck off with the calculated benefit show, and utilizing the death of his stepson to garner sympathy from the fans to then hard pivot into just being back. This guy has one mode and it’s making people feel bad for him. Even in his sole response to the accusations he was melodramatic and portrayed himself a tortured soul - it’s absolutely pathetic.

I have very complex feelings and emotions about this, that frankly, cannot be posted at 12 AM on a workday, but maybe one day it would be good to finally get them all written down.

  23. And so? Quite tone deaf to see a thoughtful and vulnerable take from a former fan and think this deserves such a snarky reply

It's so easy to just scroll past the posts you don't find palletable and leave the thread without being sparky.

Forums hate this one simple trick.
