I understand what he's trying to get at, but it makes me cringe. But what is Say Anything if not cringe. Now the scamming fans and child abuse is absolutely where I draw the line.

some people cope with serious stuff by making jokes. my bad that my normal doesn’t gel with your / most of the people here’s opinion of normal. go touch some grass man.

my first memory of brand new was seeing them (yfw era) open for dashboard and the get up kids. i found out recently that my friend i went to the show with ended his life. he fell in love with them there. it was all he talked about for weeks after. i was a huge fan of the band for a very long time. so i’m obviously conflicted. we lost touch and i never got to say goodbye! it’s happened to a lot of my old friends in the scene actually.

here’s a song that sums up how i feel about the general state of accountability on this dumb rock we inhabit together.

Nobody on here is against jokes. But this thread has gone pretty off topic suddenly. There are many other threads to make jokes in. This thread should be a little different than the others, IMO. I think asking for bits to be stopped makes sense here.

I’m not a mod. I’m just some asshole most people don’t like. So feel free to ignore me entirely.

In the summer of 03, I met the group of guys that would be my friend group the rest of high school. A handful of us loved BN a ton. One of the guys, I have a distinct memory of playing some Jude Law and Tommy Gun on guitar for and he thought it was so cool haha. Sadly, he had some inner demons and ended up taking his own life at the end of that September. Our group went from this super high peak in the summer to tragedy in just a few months. So I have some idea of where you’re coming from.

I think anybody that posts here can understand conflicting emotions around this band. I just think this thread should be allowed to share those who need held accountable more than us goofing around. Not that it all has to be dreary or serious all the time, but I think it’s time for a breather on the off topic stuff, personally.
