If an ounce of intelligent conversation that goes farther than victim blaming/harassment or "I just wanna hear Limousine" happens in here or anywhere then maybe it can be revisited in the future but so far everyone who says "I just wanna talk about the nuance" plugs their ears and defaults to that shit so fuck em, just grow up

The sidewalks are watching me think about you.

I’m on my phone so I can’t check to be sure but as far as I’m aware both Brand New threads on the forum are locked. And that’s absolutely fine if those are the rules here, but as a person earlier in the thread mentioned — it’s not great to sift through this exact thread where people are talking about Brand New. This post included btw. Sorry.

Yes, locked for good reason. Over the past few months it’s come up a few times and it devolves into what Dustin said. It’s dumb and doesn’t matter and it isn’t helpful. I don’t want to just delete any mention of them but it always ends up the same so maybe that’s the only option!

And if you do just wanna hear Limousine, whatever, but talk about it somewhere else, like the subreddit as mentioned

It’s just so easy to not talk about them at length in the year 2025. Find a new band. Separate the art from the artist peeps can’t get fucked. It’s emotional music my friend. It’s cool you feel comfortable listening to a guy sing about his personal shit knowing what he did.

No one ever separates the art from the artist when it involves someone really shitty at music being a good person amirite

Charlie Puth denounced Kanye and he’s made 20 versions of the same bad song but IIIIIIIII can separate the art from the artist which makes me super smart of course

Apparently Macklemore is an ally? Can’t stand the music but happy he’s cool

I saw him at a festival once, he honestly wasn’t bad. Not a fan so I was surprised

Macklemore’s first album (and his singles before that) is legitimately great. Saw him live during that era too and he was an incredible performer.

Had he not shared out his private conversation with Kendrick Lamar following the Grammys in 2013 (or 2014) he probably would have had a far bigger, meaningful career but I believe most of the hip hop community lost respect for him after he did that.

Macklemore has been pretty vocally pro Palestine which is more than you can say for a lot of artists.

Macklemore’s definitely a cornball, but him and Ryan Lewis cooked up some jams for sure and I think it’s kind of admirable he got a monster album off of a self-produced and released album (I think maybe a major label helped with the distribution) that’s mostly about his recovery and sobriety. And it’s great that he’s so vocal about issues that other artists aren’t touching with a 100-foot pole.

Wasn't Lyman like super chill with extremely problematic people being on Warped? That's why I didn't really get the excitement over it coming back considering what it used to harbor and him just letting it slide for money.

Oh geez. I figured there was gonna be some scum on there. Dev from Honey Revenge said in an instagram live that they didn’t know any of the lineup when they signed up to play and to not hate them if something like this was announced. She said she didn’t know the full lineup still, but I wonder if she’d heard about this.
