  2. I'm with you. I'm not wishing him the best or advocating for/defending anything he's saying. There isn't any nuance to anything he's said, only to what I wish for his family.

I could just be sensitive because I became a dad like four days ago or because of shared diagnoses in my family. I'm just trying to verbalize with the "wishing death" or "his kids would be better off without a dad" never sits 100% right with me.

I admittedly have no connection with any of Kanye's music and I am not going to begrudge anyone for having fond memories of his music in the past, but I will say I am personally fucking exhausted of the whole trope of "person does heinous shit and then suddenly gets diagnosed with autism" as someone on the spectrum. Are there things I've done that I'm not proud of? Certainly, I'm not infallible. But none of those things are, you know, spreading and endorsing Nazism, doing Hitler salutes etc

I never cared for Kanye. Just not the justice I vibes with at all back in the day. I’ve dipped into it a little bit nowadays. Regardless, I can’t speak to the quality of his music as I’ve only heard random snippets over the years. People I respect liked a lot of it, so there’s probably some good stuff there. I’m just never gonna hear it.

I didn’t watch the VMA’s or whatever where he pulled the “Imma let you finish” stunt. But once I saw that clip, there was never the slightest notion to ever listen to or even pay attention to him. I wasn’t even a Taylor fan at the time. I listened to her for the first time during 1989. I just like it was a pretty clear “when someone shows you who they are, believe them” moment. I don’t claim to have seen how wild he would get, I just knew he was not for me and was never given a reason to change my mind.

Part of me feels bad that there is no one in his life willing to get him the help he clearly needs. It seems like everyone just wants to profit off his chaos. With kids involved, it’s all the more tragic the circus continues seemingly without resistance.

  6. I stepped off the fandom, for the lack of a better word, around ye or Donda's release, I'm not sure, but I seem to remember he did have people in his circle who, at some point, wanted him to turn his life around. It must be tough when you're also surrounded by enablers and all kinds of shit people on the other side + have unhealthy, self-destructive patterns that prevent you from doing so.

A part of me still has a glimmer of hope he'll get better, for the sake of his health and his family first and foremost. His fans, his career, all that stuff should be the least of his worries. Death also seems... depressingly finite, like the realization that it's the only fate that awaits him. As much as I hate who he is today and how much pain he continues to inflict on everything he touches, it's just not something I can entertain. I'm not going to pretend I'm morally superior or anything though, I get the sentiment. It's been such a painfully long fall from grace and it remains sad to watch.

    Well, no.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of bipolar and autistic people on this planet that are not racist, rapists, nazis, or apologists when they are off their meds

Yeah, I feel like we’ve been saying that for more than a decade now. The problem is more than meds. There’s just no management for his mental health and no accountability to go along with his narcissism and complete lack of will to learn anything other than what’s being whispered in his ear from the worst people/sources on Earth.

It’s also having yes men to affirm every thought he has, having powerful artists still willing to support him and collaborate and a ton of money to seemingly shield himself from criticism. Why change when you think you’re the greatest, your thoughts are the best and the people you surround yourself tell you that’s true?

The idea that being bipolar or autistic can make you racist is extremely damaging

Also doesn't help that basically half the country believes in the same shit he's saying. Kids these days are already being indoctrinated by assholes like him. I don't care what's wrong with him, nor do I wish death upon him, but he's fucking dangerous and something needs to be done.

    But nothing will.

for me, i think kanye is ultimately on the receiving end of right wing nazi influence. as famous as he is and despite the many eyes eyes he can draw saying that shit, i don't think he really moves the needle. so i don't really pay him much attention.

    this is all there is

whoever took his money to get that ad on TV is equally a part of the problem, if not moreso, than Kanye himself. Absolutely disgusting. I'd also throw in everyone else involved in getting products like this created and distributed. His presence and influence are horrifying, but the fact that others enable this (and apparently order the fucking shirt??) is indefensible and needs to be called out.
