We talked about this earlier in the thread I think but IMO you really have to confront your own capability for being wrong, abusive, toxic, an enabler, etc, and consider yourself not above reproach, less you find yourself in a situation where you are doing those things and your rationalization is “I’m not those things and I could never do those things, so what I’m doing couldn’t be those things/Fuck the haters.”

Out of context, the Last of Us tweet was regrettably kind of funny but yeah, absolutely vile stuff from the most predictable shock personality you unfortunately know

 

I watched a documentary on the rise of the right wing and it mentioned the Overton window which I'd never considered before. The more you are exposed to something, even if it is so alien to you initially, this regularity will eventually normalise the concept even partially.

That's my concern with Ye, antisemitic talk is already too common without someone of his fame making it seem even more ok to certain of his followers.

I look forward to the day he is no longer communicating with the world.

 

To think back in the day I use to be a fan of Kayne's music.. I mean that first run of albums were classics but god damn I truly believe after his mum died, he just never been the same ever again and just gotten worse to the point now that honestly if he passes I am gonna be like thank goodness for that and good riddance.

 

I still can't quite rock with "I hope and will be glad this dude dies" considering his kids and mental health diagnoses but I do understand why people are okay wishing that on a self-professed Nazi. He's obviously a truly despicable person regardless of those issues at this point. I would prefer he finds actual help and just completely disappears from the public eye, but that's obviously never going to happen. It's a bizarre and upsetting situation all-around.

I don't know where exactly I fall on this discussion, but this guy makes some good points:

 

Yeah I fall under just hoping for better for his family and for everyone he has harmed directly or indirectly, which if that involves him dying, so be it, but if there is a different option that results in better that’s good too.

 

I understand the sentiment of "his kids would probably be better off without him," but I'd sure hate to be the person to try to tell them that. Really not comfortable making that kind of judgement. But that's just a line that I have.

 

I don’t know. He’s celebrating Hitler, being incredibly misogynist and ableist, rape shaming and is literally profiting off of the horrific abuse of someone he’s worked with. I’m not gonna say he’s better off dead, but I’m not gonna be upset by whatever harm comes his way.

 

Like, seriously, he’s the father of two daughters. What message does this send?
