I was just implying there is a way to make the joke tastefully and not like the way he made it

he's insufferable, and it's been disheartening to see people come to his defense and downplay the severity of everything he's said and done as a "joke" or try to invalidate the feelings of those his "jokes" seem to target/mention (even on this site).

 

It’s especially bizarre because he used the R word on stage a few years ago and issued an apology over it but now does not care?

I've been rereading WharfRat's post a few times now, and the only thing I can say is my mind made a connection that I don't really think WharfRat intended, but rubbed me the wrong way anyway, and that's the idea that "black antisemitism" happens because of "Jewish racism".

And that idea prompted my responses about how both are repellent and trying to chicken-and-egg the argument wasn't really helpful.

But I guess I was ultimately picking up on something that wasn't there, so I apologize to WharfRat for anything I misconstrued.

Edit: It's also possible that I've been in the Politics threads too often, where arguments like this happen daily.

 

I don’t agree with every word of this but I definitely think it is extremely relevant reading for the subject and that the nature of the issue hasn’t changed as much as it might seem:

As somebody who worked with both at various points over the years, I agree. The arrogance of the man was astounding before his manager was found out. Obviously arrogance isn’t an accountable thing, just annoying he’s still a scene king with the things he said during the initial rumblings of his managers wrongdoings.

There are definitely artists that any kind of attempt to praise them or support the music would quickly be shouted down. Rightfully so in most cases though

The argument is some people on this website continue to post about The 1975 and Matty as if none of these things have happened, and defend/minimize what he says. There's a double standard when it comes to him that I haven't seen with other artists who say toxic shit.
